SYRAH 2006
Planted area – Superficie plantada: 13.80 ha (of a total of 148 ha) Average Yield – Rendimiento promedio: 5 tons/ha Harvest - Vendimia: April 29th to May 15th An initial bunch selection was made in the vineyard. When the grapes were received in the winery a further bunch selection and then a berry selection was made. The grapes were destemmed and gently crushed. Cosecha a mano de los racimos preseleccionados en el viñedo, en cestas de 10 kg, durante las primeras horas del día.

100% Syrah – Clone 525 (2001) Block L - Steep slope and Plan
Block K – Upper and lower section
Winemaking - Vinificación Prior to fermentation, the crushed must underwent a cold soak for 5 days at 10ºC. The must was then heated to 18ºC and the different lots were inoculated with yeast strains – BM 45, D80, and D21. One tank was fermented with natural yeast. Fermentation temperatures: 26 to 32ºC. Post fermentation maceration: 1week. Oak-ageing: 100% French oak (35% new oak, 50% second use barrels and 15% third use barrels) during 14 months after malolactic fermentation. The wine has been not fined and filtered. Maceración pre-fermentativa en frío durante 5 días a 10ºC. Luego se calienta el mosto a 18ºC y se inoculan los distintos lotes con levaduras BM 45, D80 y D21. Una cuba fermenta con levadura natural. Temperaturas de fermentación: 26-32 º C. Maceración post-fermentativa: una semana. Crianza en barricas de roble Francés: (35% nuevo, 50% segundo uso y 15% tercer uso) durante 14 meses después de la fermentación maloláctica. El vino no ha sido filtrado.

Total Acidity – Acidez total: 3.47 g/L Volatile Acidity – Acidez volátil: 0.54 g/L Residual Sugar – Azúcar residual: 4.14 g/L pH: 3.43 Tasting Notes Deep dark inky carmine red, shiny and strong. The nose starts deeply concentrated and little by little, opens on a dizzy intensity, with red juicy fruits. This wine shows then a unique finesse allied to its impressive density, incredibly balanced by a striking acidity, which enhances the final explosion on fresh violet, fresh currants and a touch of meat flavors. Very complex, this wonderful Syrah can already be dignified of a good table, but will improve the next ten years to reach its best moment. Profundo y brillante color rojo carmín. La nariz comienza muy concentrado y poco a poco se abre, en una intensidad de vértigo, con jugosas frutas rojas. Este vino muestra una elegancia única aliada a una densidad impresionante. Una muy rica y balanceada acidez permite la explosión de aromas tales como el violeta fresco, las pasas de Corinto frescas y con un leve toque animal. Muy complejo, este maravilloso Syrah ya puede honrar sus mesas y mejorará hasta alcanzar su mejor momento los próximos diez años. Cédric Nicolle, Winemaker
