Sunset Collegiate Academy will enable students to explore a wide range of career interests in the fields of public health or education. Curriculum in these two areas of focus will provide a foundation of knowledge on which to pursue a Bachelor’s degree. Students who opt to pursue the Associate of Applied Science track will have the opportunity to develop the skills and experience to establish a foundation upon which to pursue a bachelor’s level degree in Public Health. Students who pursue the education track will have the opportunity to develop the skills and experience to explore and engage with delivering high-quality education, acquire the communication, teamwork and problem-solving skills that are necessary for success in the 21st century classroom in the field of education. An emphasis in these careers will equip students to excel in one of the following pathways:

■ Associate of Arts transferrable to a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education and Bilingual Education

■ Associate of Applied Science transferrable to a Bachelor’s degree in Public Health

Extracurricular activities keep learning fun and exciting. To ensure we play as hard as we work, we offer our students a broad array of extracurricular activities that offer a social or emotional outlet and opportunities to build teamwork and leadership skills.

60ENROLLMENT CRITERIA Sunset Collegiate Academy is designed to serve incoming ninth-grade students who are:

• Determined to attend college.• First Generation college students.• Historically underrepresented in higher education. The academy will accept up to 125 ninth-grade students per year, and students will move together as a cohort as they progress through high school. Students will attend ninth and tenth grade at Sunset High School in a dedicated wing of the building. For their junior and senior years, students will attend classes on the University of North Texas at Dallas campus. Transportation will be provided at no charge.
