Sunday School for ALL at 9:45 AMThis new Sunday schedule gives us an exciting opportunity: a dedicated Sunday School or Sunday Study hour. All ages, yes, even the adults, can enjoy a time to spend with one another in small groups either after 8:45 AM worship or before 10:45 AM worship. If you have not enrolled your children, youth or tried Sunday School for yourself, give it a whirl!

ChildrenChildren’s MusicMusic time for grades 3K-5th takes place during the second half of the 8:45 AM worship service. Children will leave with Leah during the second hymn. Students will have the opportunity of singing, interactive songs, as well as playing percussive instruments including handbells and boomwhackers! Emily, our new Coordinator of Music Ministries will lead this fun time. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Leah Seibel at [email protected] or Emily Leeds at [email protected]. Begins September 8.

Sunday School for children K - 5 will be held immediately following 8:45 AM service until 10:40 AM in Room 204.

Sunday School for children 3 years - 4K will be held immediately following 8:45 AM service until 10:40 AM in Room B6.

YouthConfirmation is getting bigger and better! Beginning Sunday, September 8, Pastor David will lead the 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th graders in a Sunday School class for Confirmation students. This will be a “Bible Year” study as we take the opportunity of this school year together to learn the most important book in the world! We’ll meet in Room Z120 (on the first floor of the Ziemer Building), 10:00-10:40 AM each Sunday morning.

Choose from one of these current offerings:Confirmation Parents (Everyone Welcome) Bible Year – While this is created for the Confirmation class parents to learn what their children are learning, it is a great opportunity for anyone who feels they need a better Bible foundation. While Pastor David teaches the Confirmation class during Sunday School, this group will watch a video prepared by Pastor David, and have a discussion following. Confirmation parents will be able to discuss with their children, while other members of the class will gain a greater understanding of the Bible. It’s a win-win! This class will meet in the Sanctuary at 10:00 AM. Begins September 8. Sermon Cafe – Over the summer, we have had some great discussions about the sermon each week. We will continue this group. If you haven’t had a chance to join us, don’t hesitate to jump in at any time. Those who have been coming, please continue. This group also prays for those on the prayer list each week. Class will begin at 10:00 AM and will meet in Wesley Hall. Reconvenes on September 8.

SOS 3:4 (Song of Solomon 3:4 Young Couples) – “…I have found the one my soul adores…” The Song of Solomon is all about the love shared in a committed couple. But maintaining day-to-day life as a married couple gets hard. Strengthen your marriage with others who are similar in age and struggle as you. Learn the value of having God at the center of your marriage, all the while remembering why your spouse is the one your soul adores. Class begins each week at 10:00 AM and will meet upstairs in Room 210. Begins September 15.

Women’s Group – Ladies, let’s get together on Sunday mornings to discuss faith, life and supporting one another. We will use a study or book as our foundation. This group will meet at 10:00 AM each week, in B5. September 15.

Men’s Group – Fellas, are you looking for other men to share in your faith journey? Here’s your chance study and grow with other men. The group will meet in the Ziemer Building, in Room 122. Begins September 15.

New Sermon Series “What Have We Here”What comes to mind when you hear the word “church”? Perhaps a building. Certainly a group of people. And probably also certain kinds of events that you attend and participate in. But when the New Testament talks about “church,” it says so much more. For the first weeks of this fall, Pastor David will preach a series of sermons about the church. “What Have We Here” will be our theme as we discover the profound beauty and divine significance of this building, these people, and these events that we attend.

Thank YouThe altar flowers today are sponsored by John and Denise Myers in honor of their daughter’s first wedding anniversary. Coffee Fellowship is provdied by Mary Larsen.

Supply List for Market Bag Instructor: Jean Van Erem Bag finished size with these supplies will be about 22 inches side seam to side seam and 17 inches tall,

with a 6- inch deep squared bottom. All seams are ½ inch. Interior seams are zig-zagged. They can be finished with bias tape for an elegant appearance. If you want to do that, purchase a package of extra wide double fold bias tape in a coordinating or neutral color.

Main fabric- at least 2/3 yard of a sturdy washable fabric at least 44/45 wide.If your fabric is wider than 44/45 you have the option of making a taller bag. Important: Your fabric must be squared before you start, so please do this at home to save time. This is not cutting your fabric into a square shape. When you do this, you are trimming the fabric so that the cut edges are exactly parallel to each other.

1. One piece of sturdy denim or similar to reinforce the bottom: 7-8 inches x atleast 2/3 yard, or the same yardage you bought for the main fabric in #1.

2. For handles: 2 ½ yd of 1 inch or wider cotton or nylon webbing in a color thatworks with your fabric.

3. Note: Handles can be cut from the bag fabric instead of using webbing. If youwant to do that, you will need 10 inches more of the main bag fabric, or 10inches of some sturdy coordinating 44/45 fabric. You will have enough fabricto make two handles 2 inches wide, double thickness, 44/45 inches long.

4. Large spool of coordinating thread.

5. Optional reinforcing webbing around inside of top edge- You will need doubleyour yardage for the main fabric in #1, plus 2 inches. For example, if yourmain fabric is 2/3 yard (24 inches) you will need (24x2) + 2 = 50 inchesof webbing. The reinforcing webbing color should match the handles orcoordinate with the fabric.

6. Pins, cutting tools, machine, bobbins; extension cords and power strips.Remember your machine’s power cord, too.

7. Design notes-colorful patterns and stripes work well. A definite diagonalpattern might be a challenge. If you want to add a pocket (inside or outside)you will need extra fabric. I usually spray my bags with Scotch-guard aftercompletion.

Call or text Jean if you have questions at 227-7213.
