Welcome to Holy Trinity Lutheran ChurchOur Mission: Share God’s Love

2 7

• Holy Communion is open to all who are baptized and trust that Christ is present in the meal, regardless of your tradition or affiliation. Pastors are available to talk about Holy Baptism if you desire to join in the Lord’s Supper.

• We share communion by intinction. Proceed to one of the stations via the center aisle. A communion server will give you bread to dip in the red wine or grape juice found in the chalice. Please return to your seat via the side aisles.

• Gluten-free bread is available at the table in the front center aisle. Remove a wafer from the bowl and pick up a cup of wine or juice, then step forward to hear the words, “given for you.”

• Children who do not yet receive communion or those who are not baptized are encouraged to come forward for a blessing. Cross your arms in front of you to signal your desire for a blessing.

• Hospitalized? Please inform the staff if you plan to be or are unexpectedly admitted to the hospital.

• Children are invited and encouraged to worship with you. A supervised nursery is available on Sundays and Wednesdays for children 4 years and younger if you choose this option for all or part of the service.

• Children’s Bulletins are available from the ushers. Busy Bags are hanging in the Narthex near the Welcome Center.

• Restrooms are located on the north (women’s) and south (men’s) sides of the Narthex (lobby).• A Family/All-Gender Restroom is available on the north side of the Narthex.

Even though we don’t know you yet, we already love you. Your race, gender identity, mental or physical ability, sexual orientation, marital status, financial situation, social standing, education, cultural background, immigration status, or any other category or label cannot separate you from the love of God, nor keep you from being what God called you to be.

Flowers this weekend are from Debra and Samantha Witten in honor of their parents and grandparents, Don & Arlene Smith, on their 64th wedding anniversary.

Together, we strive to share God’s love by loving our neighbors and loving creation. Even though we don’t know you yet, we already love you. Your race, gender identity, mental or physical ability, sexual orientation, marital status, financial situation, social standing, education, cultural background, immigration status, or any other category or label cannot separate you from the love of God, nor keep you from being what God called you to be. (Excerpt from the congregation’s welcome statement approved at our recent congregational meeting.)

Christmas Poinsettias - If you would like to contribute towards the purchase of poinsettias that will decorate the sanctuary for Christmas, you can do so by check (note “Christmas Flowers” on the memo line), donate at the kiosk (select “Worship and Music”), or contribute online at bit.ly/htlc-Flowers2019. The suggested donation is $15 per plant.

Our Family Promise host dates for 2020 are January 12-19, April 12-19, July 12-19, and October 11-18. Sign up online to help in January at http://bit.ly/htlc-FPJan2020.

Pies Needed! On November 27, we will deliver pies to MOSAIC homes in the Des Moines metro and enjoy pie for fellowship following Thanksgiving Eve worship. If you are willing to bake (or buy) and donate a pie (or two), or if you are willing to help deliver pies on November 27 at noon, sign up at the Red Wall or at bit.ly/htlc-Thanksgiving2019 today!

Operation Turkey Sandwich - On November 27 & 28, we will assemble and deliver lunches to individuals who have to work on Thanksgiving Day as part of our annual Operation Turkey Sandwich giving project. We still need people to bake Stuffin’ Muffins and pumpkin bars. Sign up at the Red Wall or online at bit.ly/htlc-Thanksgiving2019.

Nursery Volunteer: Would you be willing to help out occasionally in the church nursery? Once in a while our regular Nursery Care Provider is gone and we are looking for a group of subs we can call on to fill in so we can continue to provide this valuable ministry. Volunteers should be 16 or older and will need to pass a background check. Volunteers will only be called on a few times a year. Contact Kelly Heuton to ask questions or to sign up.

Advent Book Study will begin Tuesday, December 3, and meet for three consecutive Tuesdays at 6:30 pm in room 201. We will be reading “Dear Church – A Love Letter from a Black Preacher to the Whitest Denomination in the U.S.” by Lenny Duncan. Join this group and you will be challenged, convicted, upset, moved and blessed. Books can be ordered through Amazon. Sign up at the Connections Center or online at http://bit.ly/htlc-AdventStudy2019.

Church school students will present their annual Christmas programs on December 15. Families may register to participate in the program at 4:00 or 6:00 pm. Refreshments will be served in the Fellowship Hall following each program. Contact Jen Schafer with questions.

Cookies for Christmas Eve - We will serve cookies for fellowship on Christmas Eve. If you’re willing to donate a dozen (or two), sign up online at bit.ly/htlc-cookies2019.

Lessons & Carols will be held Sunday, December 15, during worship at 8:30 and 10:00. Invite a friend to join you for an uplifting morning of word and song!
