THIS WEEK

STL State Fair Fundraiser: August 11-21 - We serve breakfast at the Cattlemen’s Beef Quarters every morning of the fair (5:15 - 10:00 a.m.) to raise money for Speed The Light. You receive free admission and free breakfast. We need help with some lunch and dinner shifts as well. Adult and student volunteers (students must have completed 6th grade) sign up at the Events Center.

In August, we have a team of people going to El Salvador to work on a new medical clinic with missionaries Victor & Lynn Diaz. They need various medications — over-the-counter, diabetic, and blood pressure. You can pick up a list of these medications from the Events Center. Prescription medications for diabetes and blood pressure may be leftover prescriptions with expiration dates within 3 years. You may turn all medications in to the church office or to Dr. Sue Casady.

Monday Fun Day for NH Kids & NH Tots - Meet at 10:30 a.m. tomorrow, July 11 at Ashby Park & Wading Pool (3200 38th St., DSM). Wear swimsuits and bring towels - there’s lots of water to play in! Feel free to pack a lunch and stay as long as you’d like. Look for Pastor Cortney & Pastor Mandee. We will have water/sand toys, bubbles, sidewalk chalk, etc.

Ladies’ Bible Study - We are currently studying The Cross by John Stott. Please join us Monday at 1:00 p.m. in New Hope Java.

Book Buddies are reading The Friends of Jesus by Karen Kingsbury. We will meet Monday, July 11 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. in New Hope Java for our discussion. Questions? Contact Linda Lee Lovelace.

Retired Men - Meet for breakfast with Pastor Weaver on the second Tuesday of each month at 8:00 a.m. at Cozy Café, 5405 Douglas Avenue. We will meet this Tuesday, July 12.

Ladies’ Prayer & Share - Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. in New Hope Java.

Women’s Discipleship Class New Topic - How to Keep Your Eyes Fixed on Christ Instead of Glued to a Screen, a 5-week DVD series facilitated by Torrie Bagley, starting Wednesday, July 13 at 6:30 p.m. in Room 224. Workbooks $8. Please sign up online or at the Events Center.

There will be no choir rehearsal this Wednesday, July 13.

Men’s Bible Discussion Group - Thursday at 8:00 a.m. in New Hope Java.

Ladies’ Friday Morning Discipleship Class - The Promised Land, Old Testament video series by Ray Vander Laan at 9:45 in Room 212. Class facilitator is Barbara Smalley.

There is a Nursing Mothers Room available in Room 140 next to the first floor women’s restroom.

Communion will be served today. All believers are invited to participate. Please hold the bread and cup until all have been served. We will pray and receive communion together. Gluten-free wafers are available at the Welcome Center.

Today we will receive a missions offering to help Tim & Doris Eckert build the Esperanza House in Palopo, Indonesia.

If you are new to the church and haven’t had an opportunity to get acquainted with Pastor Weaver, you are invited to join him on the west end of the foyer during Sunday School for an informal time of refreshments and sharing.

Ladies of New Hope are invited to a Baby Shower for Trisha Todd on Saturday, July 16 at 1:00 p.m. in the Student Campus Chapel. Trisha is registered at Target.

Middle School Camp Prayer - There is a list at the Events Center of our students and counselors who are going to camp. Please sign up to pray for 1 or 2 students or leaders as we spend the next week at camp.

Coloring Our Blessings Women’s Fellowship will meet this Thursday, July 14 from 6:30-8:00 p.m. in New Hope Java. Bring your favorite coloring book, colored pencils/markers, a simple snack, and a friend. Questions? Contact Melissa Madsen.

Connect College-Age Ministry will be moving to Sunday at 6:00 p.m. starting July 17. We meet in the Student Campus Chapel.

We are excited to announce that we will be doing our BGMC Cake and Pie Auction again this year! It will take place Sunday, July 31, immediately following the 6:00 p.m. service. For the sake of time, this year we will be auctioning off 20 delicious cakes and pies. If you are interested in making a cake or pie for our event, please contact Pastor Cortney by Wednesday, July 27. We will also be having a silent auction and craft sale that night to benefit BGMC. Please come and support our kids and their HUGE heart for missions!

Beth Moore Simulcast - Saturday, September 17, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 and are on sale now in the foyer between the morning services.

Food Pantry Sunday - August 7. Please remember our friends and neighbors in need and bless them with your donation of non-perishable food and personal care items.

There will be a Sunday School staff meeting for all kindergarten - 5th grade teachers, helpers, and substitutes on Wednesday, August 10 from 6:30 -7:30 p.m. in New Hope Java.

Women’s Ministries July Event - Thursday, July 21, arrive at the Student Campus at 9:00 a.m. We will go to Winterset to tour the John Wayne Museum and then enjoy lunch at Northside. Men’s Event - NASCAR Xfinity 250 race at the Iowa Speedway in Newton, Saturday, July 30. Tickets are $40. We will provide transportation from the Student Campus, leaving at 3:00 p.m. You will be signed up when you turn in your money to Bill Dane. Deadline is Sunday, July 24.

Randy McPherson will be our guest speaker on Sunday, July 31 in the morning service. Randy and his brother, Mat, are owners of McPherson Guitars and Mathew’s Bows. Randy is a dynamic speaker who speaks all over the nation and will be speaking at our men’s fall retreat. To encourage men to attend the retreat, we are having a drawing to give away an archery bow. All men 16 and older can sign up for the drawing.
