$2,443.8 7 was collected and donated to Balm in Gilead!
Thank you for giving!
From Your Administrator…Thank you for helping us finish strong in 2018! Together we reached 94.6% of our Min-istry Resource Plan budget. Yes, giving towards the Plan was slightly down from last year; but, in addition we made some large gifts toward our 2020 Vision Projects. With a $200,000 gift, we completed our commitment to help the Bondeni School in Nairobi, Kenya complete 2 additional floors to their school. Also, $50,000 was sent to Pastor Paing in Myanmar to purchase land and a building representing the first phase of secur-ing space for a church, orphanage and residence. An $80,000 gift designated for debt retirement, along with your faithful giving, allowed us to reduce our debt $250,000 in 2018. Taking into account the 2020 Vision Project gifts and the debt reduction gift, giving exceeded last year!
Based on your 2018 giving, 96% of their budgeted amounts were given to our coopera-tive giving programs (A, B, C, D giving plans through BSCNC and CBFNC), and the various worldwide, state and local ministries that Snyder supports. We were able to send 100% of the budged amounts to the missionaries we directly support.
In all, mission and evangelism expenditures totaled $919,000 (distributing 97% of the Missions Budget). All 2018 bills have been paid. Your excellent stewardship of giving left many areas of the Ministry Resource Plan underspent. This allowed us to end the year in the black. If you would like a copy of the finance reports, they are available in the church office upon request.

It is filled with fun faith-building programming and hands-on mis-sions education. The theme this year is FEARLESS. Using 1 Corinthians 16:13–14 as a theme verse and the outline for the week, campers will be challenged as they dig into this passage (and others) to explore what Paul meant when he called us all to live a faith that is based in love, not in fear. When we are FEARLESS we can LOVE MORE and FEAR LESS.

Pastor’s Perspective I have written before about the joy of praying with my grandsons at bedtime.
Most recently, Caleb (3) has been asking me to help him pray. Carson (5) asks me what else he can pray for. What a joy and a privilege to teach my grandchildren how to talk to God! My parents did the same thing for me. My earliest childhood memory is family devotions. With my three younger sisters, we gathered every evening to read the Bible together and pray. Looking back, that family tradition had a profound impact on me and the development of my faith.
Next Sunday, I will preach from perhaps the most familiar passage in the book of Deuteronomy. The Shema was one of the most important texts in the entire Old Testament for the Israelite people and remains so today for the adherents of Judaism. Jesus quoted from this specific text when He was asked what the great-est commandment is. These verses are important because they reveal how God’s people are to pass on the faith to future generations. The primary place to do that is in the home. And the primary teachers are parents. A recent study con-ducted by Life Way Research confirms – yet again – that the most influential voice young people listen to for biblical truth when it comes to the big questions of life are their parents. Pastors and other clergy are second. Parents (and grandparents) cannot afford to waste this opportunity or abdicate this responsibility!
Not knowing what I would be preaching on next week, one father pulled me aside last Sunday and said he is thinking about writing down some of the specific ways God has worked in his life over the years and sharing them with his son. My response? Go for it! Absolutely! This is exactly what young people today need and what we need to be doing. Far too many have no one to teach them or to model a life of faith for them. To be honest, I have concerns about the culture my grand-children will grow up in. But I also know that God is actively working to reconcile this fallen world to Himself. He is going to need people in every generation to be sources of His love and light. It is our responsibility to prepare our children and grandchildren to be His instruments to accomplish His purpose. I pray that He – and they – find us faithful.
See you Sunday! ~ John
