  • TODAY’S GOSPEL: Matthew 24:-27-36

"For as the lightning comes from the east and shines as far as the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. Wherever the body is, there the eagles will be gathered together. "Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken; then will appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory; and he will send out his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

"From the fig tree learn its lesson: as soon as its branch becomes tender and puts forth its leaves, you know that summer is near. So also, when you see all these things, you know that he is near, at the very gates. Truly, I say to you, this generation will not pass away till all these things take place. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.

"But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only."

ST. NERSESS SEMINARIANS SAY THANK YOU!

We received a most warm and heartening call from Dn. Levon Altiparmakian of St. Nersess Seminary thanking our Women’s Guild for the gift of goodies. The nine seminarians were over-whelmed with joy in seeing the cheoregs and other Armenian delicacies so lovingly prepared by our Women’s Guild Outreach and Social Services Committee. This year 30 similar care pack-ages were sent to our college students away from home to keep them connected to the source that not only physically feeds them but spiritually does so as well. We thank Carol Ohanesian, Linda Lutz and their dedicated committee for keeping our students and, this year our seminarians, filled to the gill.

CROWN THEM WITH GLORY & HONOR

We rejoice in celebrating the Sacrament of Holy Crowning and have asked

Christ our God to bless the marriage of:

    Hripsime Grigoryan & Grigoriy Babayan

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD, the High School Church School students service pro-

ject, (organized by Samaritans Purse (www.samaritanspurse.org), needs your help. This Christian relief program sends shoe boxes filled with children’s items to children in over 130 countries. Last year over 8 million boxes were distributed. Our students are currently col-lecting items to fill the shoe boxes. Collection boxes are located outside the Church School office. Collected items are for boys and girls, ages 2 to 14. Items must be new and may in-clude small toys (no war related items), personal hygiene items (no liquids), soap, washcloth, toothpaste, toothbrush, combs, etc, and school supplies.. We are also accepting monetary donations to help with shipping. Checks may be written to St John’s Church School and dropped off at the Church School office with a notation of Operation Christmas Child in the memo. The students will be packing the boxes next Sunday, November 2nd. Thank you for your support with this worthwhile program.
