Readings for the Day:
I Samuel 3:1-21: At a time when visions are rate and
unexpected, the Lord comes to Samuel and calls him to speak thedivine word. Though just a boy, Samuel responds to Godobediently, as Eli the priest has taught him to respond. Thismarks the beginning of Samuels prophetic ministry.
John 20:19-23: The Risen Jesus appears to his disciples, offeringthem a benediction, a commission, and the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Questions To Ponder:
1Can you relate to Samuel in any way? How?
2What would your reaction be if God called to you in the
middle of the night?
3Why was Samuel afraid to tell Eli about the vision?4How can we in our own lives live out Samuels words of
Speak for you servant is listening?
5Why do you think that there were times when visions and
the Word of the Lord was rare as in the time of Samuel?
