LOOSE DONATION CHECKSEffective January 1, 2020, the parish will no longer be responsible for any loose check donations for taxes each year. If you wish to have your weekly donation totaled each year for tax purposes, you MUST sign up for the envelope system. Too many loose checks come in each week and it's quite time consuming to search for each family name in our database to record your donation. As of January 2020, the parish will no longer do this. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Thank you, Fr. Palatucci

Congratulations to...Megan Ring and Ronald Butironi who exchanged their wedding vows Saturday, December 28th at

our parish. Have a blessed, holy life in the way God called you to live this sacramental gift. Our prayers are with you.

CHRISTMAS LIGHTS AND TREES DONATIONSRecently Fr. Palatucci had George Apap Painting install outdoor lights at both churches. If you are interested in donating for this, it would be greatly appreciated. Fr. Palatucci also purchased four trees from Balsam Hill Tree Company. Two will be used at St. John and two at St. Charles. Each tree costs about $500.00 each. They’re artificial but exceptionally realistic. If you would like to donate for them, he would appreciate it as well. Both the lights and trees will beautify our parish each Christmas for years to come. Any amount is welcome. Please make checks out to St. John the Evangelist-St Charles Borromeo and in the Memo line please specify ‘Trees’ or ‘Lights”.

A Request For Help With Our Atrium

Our Atrium is collecting religious images from greeting cards and religious mailings for use by the Atrium creation team as well as by the children. If you have any religious images we can use,

please leave them in the church vestibule in an envelope marked “Atrium” or drop them off at the Parish Office. Our Atrium creation team will begin working on developing materials for our new Atrium beginning in January. Everyone’s help is welcomed and appreciated. Meetings will take place on the 1st & 3rd Tuesdays of the month at 1:00 pm. If you are interested in helping please contact Ms. Karen at [email protected] or call and leave your name and contact information at the Parish Office at 845-855-5488. If you cannot join us to help with the creation of materials, please keep our work in your prayers and watch for other ways you can contribute to the development of our Atrium. This is such important work that will serve the young children of our parish and lead them closer to God. God bless you for helping in whatever way you can!

Epiphany WalkEach year various Christian communities do what is known as the Epiphany Walk. Our parish will participate in this walk as we’ve done in previous years. Please consider taking part in this moment of ecumenical grace. The date is Sunday, January 5th, 2020, and the times and places are listed below. 1. 4:00pm Christ Church on Quaker Hill 2. 4:30pm Christ the King Lutheran Church 3. 5:00pm St. John’s Roman Catholic Church 4. 5:30pm Pawling United Methodist Church 5. 6:00pm Holy Trinity Episcopal Church followed by reception

Flower Memorialization Fr. Palatucci is planning a fl ower memorialization program. It will work similarly to the bread/wine and candle program already in place. Every two weeks a person(s) can purchase fl owers or a plant and memorialize them to a loved one. After two weeks these will be removed so another person(s) may participate in the program. The plants can be taken home by the donor after two weeks. There are several ways one can participate in the program:

1) You may choose to put one bouquet of fl owers at the Blessed Virgin Mary statue and/or another at the St. Joseph statue. It’s not required to purchase for both statues. But only fl owers will be accepted for the statues. Plants will not. Or…

2) You may purchase a matching fl ower bouquet and place them on the matching tabernacle fl ower stands. A matching set must be purchased. This can be either one person, a family, or a group of people. Or…

3) A person can purchase a set of fl owers or plant spray for the front of the altar. Please note that the altar area should be free from too much encumbrance since it takes high precedence in the sanctuary. Only one fl ower bouquet or fl ower spray per time frame will be allowed in front of the altar.

4) A person can purchase one or more sets or even all the fl owers for that two-week period.

A parishioner has been kind enough to care for the fl ora around the sanctuary. It will be her task to continue to do so. I’m sorry but I cannot allow people to roam about the sanctuary to care for their donated fl owers and plants. Someone will do that for you. We are currently working with a local fl orist to help with this new project. We’re hoping they will create a fl ower menu that a person can look through to choose a particular kind of bouquet or plant. They will submit the order with their payment to the parish and we will contact the fl orist for purchase and delivery. The memorialized names will be added each week to the bulletin. This is still a work in progress, but I’m hoping the program will be in full eff ect by January 2020. Please call the offi ce or look for more details in upcoming bulletins.
