FROM THE PASTOR Dear Parishioners, Today is World Day of the Sick. It is connected with the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes where so many people went for heal- ing. Let us pray for one another for healing and lay hands upon each other because God can use each and every one of us for His healing purposes. We also need to spend me with the sick be- cause they can get lonely. Lent is upon us. It starts with Ash Wednesday. Our masses are 6:30am, 12:10pm and 5:30pm at Sacred Heart Church; Belaire Cove Chapel at 4:00pm and St. Joseph Church at 6:00pm. Please note that the whole school Mass is for the children. We will have Staons of the Cross each Friday at 5:30pm. Please remember that Ash Wednesday is a day of fast and absnence. Fridays during Lent are days of absnence. Please sign up to take a holy hour for our next ACTS retreat. You can make the holy hour anywhere you want. Please intercede for the women making the retreat. Fr. Guy Desrochers, C.Ss.R, a Redemptorist priest, will be leading our Lenten mission this year. He will speak at all of the Masses February 17th & 18th then the mission will be Monday – Thursday, February 19th - 22nd at 6:00pm. Part of a rosary will be prayed at 5:40pm each night. Please check out Fr. Guy’s bio else- where in this bullen. Please cut out the prayer for the success of the mission to be prayed each day. The Lenten Come, Lord Jesus program is starng. If you are interested please give us a call! The interior renovaon of the Church is substanally com- pleted. There are a few things we are sll working on. It looks like the total cost will be $1,031,302.95. It looks like we will only have to borrow $10,000 from the Diocese to pay for this, unless some unexpected blessings come in. I think that’s prey good for a major project like this and done on me. Thanks again to all of you who have contributed to this renovaon in one way or another. And a big thanks to Beulah and Sharon Lee whose estate dona- on made all of this possible. Let us pray for the repose of their souls including Beulah’s husband, Richard. CENTENNIAL NEWS+ One Native Son to Another- On February 17, 2016, Pope Francis accepted the retirement of Bishop Michael Jarrell, who served as the sixth Bishop of Lafayette for over 13 years. At the same time, Pope Francis appointed Bishop Douglas Deshotel, previously an Auxiliary Bishop of Dallas , as the seventh Bishop of Lafayette. Bishop Jarrell , a native of Opelousas, and Bishop Deshotel, a native of Basile, follow in the footsteps of Bishop Jeanmard, a native of Breaux Bridge. Remarkably in our 100 years as a diocese, over 50 of those years have been led by a Bishop native to Acadiana. + Centennial Indulgence- an indulgence granted by Pope Francis can be gained throughout this Centennial Year by all who visit the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist and pray the Centennial Prayer (with the usual conditions for an indulgence.) Please see the Diocesan Webpage for more information (www.diolaf.org).

CENTENNIAL PRAYER FOR THE DIOCESE OF LAFAYETTE

O Lord God Almighty, by sending Your only-begotten Son to establish the One True Church through the power of the Most Holy Spirit, You

gave mankind a haven from the world. We humbly implore Your blessing upon the Church of the Diocese of Lafayette as we observe this

Century of Love. Through the intercession of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception and Saint John Vianney, our patrons, bestow perpetual

growth to Your Family of Faith as we take refuge in Your Infinite Grace. We humbly beseech You

to enlighten us to learn from our past and to look to the future so that we may persist in the work of spreading the true faith. Fill us with gratitude

in this Year of Jubilee as we live secure in the certain hope that You will be with us forever. We

ask this through Christ the Lord. Amen.

Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception, pray for us! St. John Vianney, pray for us!

LENTEN MISSION AT SACRED HEART CHURCHMonday, February 19th - Thursday, February 22nd

starting at 6:00p.m.Fr. Guy Desrochers, C.Ss.R.

Theme: “The True Face of the Father” Born in 1956 in Gatineau, in the province

of Quebec, Fr. Guy Desrochers, C.Ss.R., a French Canadian Redemptorist, is the third of a family of five children: one girl and four boys. He studied

Fine Arts and Commercial Art at Algonquin College in Ottawa, and at 18 years of age, he became a graphic artist for a French newspaper where he worked for seven years. Since he was 14 years old, he had not put a foot in church, and led a

disorderly life: drugs, alcohol and sex. Shortly after turning 24, his whole life suddenly changed, mainly

because of his father’s illness and his mother’s prayers. He started reading his Bible after hearing an inside voice compelling him to read it. After 2 years of spiritual journey with the Lord, he finally answered God’s call to become a priest. Ordained at the age of 32, he has since become a passionate

preacher of the Good News, both in French and in English, around the entire North American

continent. He has been the rector of the beautiful Shrine of St. Anne de Beaupre, near Quebec City,

for 4 years. He was previously in charge of the French and English magazine of the Shrine (La

Revue Sainte Anne and The Annals of Saint Anne), and is presently active in full time preaching since June 2015, and director of Pastoral Vocations for

his community.

+ PRAYER FOR THE SUCCESS OF THE MISSION +“The True Face of the Father”

Loving father, you sent your beloved Son, “perfect reflection of your glory, and very stamp of your

nature”, to save us and to reveal yourself through his words and actions.

Because your mercy is infinite, dear Father, we pray to you for the success of our parish mission. May the Holy Ghost that unites you so perfectly in the

Holy Trinity, be given to us and help us understand and discern the calls and instructions that your

begotten Son will give us during our parish mission.

May He enlighten and guide all the faithful of our parish community to the fullness of your Love

and Wisdom that dwells in the treasure of Christ’s heart, Head of the Church. May He make us more

attentive to the Word of God, to the necessity of daily and intimate prayer of the heart, and to

fraternal charity, which is the only true sign of the presence of God dwelling in our hearts.

Following the example of Christ and of our Blessed Mother Mary and her spouse Joseph, help us, Holy

Spirit, to become the pure reflection of the true face of the Father!

“Restore us, O God; make your face shine on us, that we may be saved.” (Ps 80, 3)

AMEN!

Lord, we pray that you will change the hearts of those who lead and influence us, give them the

courage and moral fiber to speak out against and stop the sin of abortion, that America will regain its moral goodness and set an example for the rest of

the world.

Let us remember the Father’s admonition in Deuteronomy; “I have set before you life and

death, blessing and cursing. Choose therefore life, that both thou and they seed may live.”
