Efficacy of Low Rates and the Global Economic OutlookSpeaker: Guy V. Petcho, Portfolio Manager, Global Rates

Voya Investment ManagementAs Nixon famously quipped, “We’re all Keynesians now”. This is well treadedeconomic terrain, and yet we do not learn from history. The proposed plans by thepresidential candidates will provide a minimal impact to GDP. The US economicdownturn is well over a year old and will extend through Q1 2017. If the Fed were trulydata-dependent, the weak US momentum would be sufficient to delay another hike. However, there is an institutional desire to rebuild stimulus capacity for the nextrecession. The Global context though is shifting: China growth will remain robustand continue to support stable world trade volumes. Inflation green shoots areemerging, and with our financially intertwined world the consequences will be wide-spread.
