Financial Assistance The Y, through financial contributions by concerned citizens and our “Reach Out to Youth Campaign,” makes assistance available for membership and pro-gram scholarships. Inquiry by interested persons may be made of any members of the staff at the Y and steps will be taken to see that assistance is provided.

Membership Information Membership Categories • Youth (Ages 0-12) • Teen (Ages 13-17) • Young Adult (Ages 18-22) • Adult • One Adult Family (1 Adult and dependents through age 22 living in the same household) • Two Adult Family (2 Adults and dependents through age 22 living in the same household) • Senior (Individual age 65 or greater) • Senior Couple (Couple who are both age 65 or greater) Summer and college memberships available. Rates are available at the Y Welcome Center. Financial Assistance is available.

Initial Enrollment Fee This is a one-time fee charged for new Young Adult, Adult, One Adult Family and Two Adult Family memberships. Individuals who do not renew within 90 days are classified as new members.Young Adults: $25Adult, One Adult Family and Senior: $65 Two Adult Family and Senior Couple: $80

Visitor/Guest Fees Youth $7, Teens (Grades 7-12) $8, Adults $13 Photo I.D. required every visit. Guest fees are for use of gymnasiums, pool, showers, exercise rooms and permit access to group wellness classes. They may be applied towards a Y membership, if redeemed within 30 days.

General InformationHours - Effective for the Summer Session June 22 - August 23 Monday – Friday 5:00am – 9:00pm Saturday and Sunday 7:00am – 4:30pm Please note aquatics program areas close 1/2 hour prior to facility closing.

Holiday Closings Closed 4:00pm on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. Closed Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, Easter, Memorial Day, July 4th and Labor Day.Special Hours New Year’s Day.

Membership Cards We ask that all members show their membership cards when entering the Y. Replacement cards are $5.

Another great reason for becoming a Y member! Your Y membership card will provide you free access to any Y facility in New England. We are for healthy living and we want you to stay active and keep moving! Now, we have made sure there is a Y wherever you are. So get out and explore New England, visit friends and rela-tives, and remember to take your Y card with you.

All Y members from Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont will be welcome - free - with their current Y ID card anywhere in New England.

Some restrictions may apply so please check the Y you plan to visit by going to their website and clicking on My Y / Every Y to learn more. Photo I.D. required every visit.

AWAY Program Many Ys across the country and abroad participate in the “AWAY” (Always Welcome at Ys) program. This means that when you are on vacation, a business trip, or visiting another town where there is a participating Y, you can use their facility. Remember to bring your membership card! Check with the Welcome Center to see if there is a participating Y where you plan on traveling. The Westerly-Pawcatuck, Arcadia and Mystic branches will honor another Y card for up to two weeks. After that you will be responsible to pay half of the guest fee. Photo I.D. required every visit.

Volunteer OpportunitiesAs a community service organization, the Y thrives on people helping people. The act of sharing, teaching, giving and working with others can bring a new dimension to your life. Inquire at the Y Welcome Center today for volunteer opportunities.

PoliciesConduct – Appropriate conduct is expected at all times. Membership may be suspended and/or revoked for inappropriate behavior. Please see posted rules in specific program areas.

Cell Phone & Photo Policy – Cameras will not be permitted for use in the Y facilities unless approved by the Branch Directors. Cell phone usage permitted in the Y lobbies only.

Valuables – Please bring your own lock. The Y is not responsible for lost items. All lockers are day use only. Locks left overnight will be removed.

Contact Information Changes – Please advise us of any change of address, phone number or email address, so that we may keep our records up to date.

Clothing – All members using the Y are required to wear appropriate attire for their intended activity. In the pool, bathing suits must be worn. Appropriate workout clothing and footwear is required.

Westerly-Pawcatuck Family/Special Needs Locker Room – These locker rooms were designed for people with young children or people with special needs requiring handicapped accessibility.

Supervision – Children under 12 years of age must be supervised by a parent/guardian at all times in the facilities unless in a scheduled program.

Wellness Center—must be at least 14 years of age to use the Wellness Center, unless child has previously taken our Kid F.I.T. Club or Youth Wellness Center Training Program. Under 14 must still be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Locker Room Policy – Children age 6 and under must be accompanied by an adult at all times in the locker rooms.

No Smoking – Smoking is not permitted on Y property.

Family Swim – Pool time is specifically dedicated for families to swim together. Parents must be in the pool with their children. A swim test will be given by the lifeguard prior to allowing swimmers into the deep end of the pool.

Inclement Weather Closing & Cancellation Policy – The Y reserves the right to cancel classes or close its facilities if it feels that remaining open will jeopardize the safety of staff, members and participants. Please check our facebook pages for updates or on RI and CT news stations.

Lost & Found – All items found will be kept for a limited time. Any toiletries or undergarments are thrown away. Stop at the Welcome Center to fill out a form if you have lost an item.

Late Registration – Programs are prorated beginning the third week.

Cancellation Policy – A full refund will be given if a class is cancelled by the Y or if a person cannot meet the course prerequisites. If it becomes necessary for a person to cancel prior to the first class, a full Y credit will be issued. If a participant cancels prior to the second class, a credit of 50% will be given. If a participant chooses to cancel after the second class, no credits or refunds will be granted, unless appropriate medical documentation is provided. Credits may be issued due to medical reasons. Class credits may be used for one full year.

A UNIQUE SUMMER EXPERIENCE!By providing innovative and stimulating experiences, we help our campers strengthen their confidence, grow lasting memories and further growth as a child and young adult. Our age appropriate programming focuses on learning and developing new and exciting skills that remain at the forefront of current trends while still holding true to our cherished Y values and Watchaug traditions. Allow your camper to experience camp themselves in one of our Traditional or Specialty Camp programs.

OUR STAFFCamp Watchaug is led by a team of full-time professional directors. Our summer staff is selected for their strong character, maturity, enthusiasm and commitment to our Y values. We provide extensive staff training, drills and preparation which includes abuse prevention, background checks, and CPR and First Aid certifications.

Campers are required to wear life jackets for all boating activities, but Water Sports participants should be comfortable in deep water.

FORT BUILDING • Entering Grades 4-7 Session 3, July 13-24 Let's Build! Led by an experienced carpenter and camp staff, campers will design and build forts in the woods. Campers will learn skills like lashing, have fun, develop leadership and teamwork abilities and be able to tell all their friends “I built that!”

LEGO CAMP • Entering Grades 1-6Camp Watchaug is partnering with Play-Well TEKnologies to present LEGO camp. Since 1997, Play-Well TEKnologies has been focused on learning through play. When kids are at play, they explore the world. When kids create, they express themselves. And when kids build, they solve problems.

Ninjaneering • Entering Grades 1-3 Session 1, June 22-26 Enter the world of Ninjago and become an apprentice Ninjaneer! Learn the way of Spinjitzu, build the Fire Temple, race Skull Trucks, and encounter the mighty Dragon! Imagine and build unique and fun LEGO projects with the guidance of an experienced Play-Well instructor while exploring the fantasy world of Ninjago. This is an ideal way to prepare young Ninjaneers for the challenge of Ninjaneering Masters with LEGO camp.

Engineering FUNdamentals: Mine, Craft, Build using LEGO® • Entering Grades 3-6 Session 4, July 27- August 7 (Wait List Only)Bring Minecraft to life using LEGO! Build a motorized walking Creeper, a terrifying Ghast, and a motorized Minecart! This project-based program, designed by Play-Well instructors, combines the basic format of our core engineering-themed programs based on the world of Minecraft. Students will explore real-world concepts in physics, engineering, and architecture while building their favorite Minecraft objects. Students will have a blast, even without any prior experience with Minecraft or LEGO.

Pre-Engineering: Mine, Craft, Build using LEGO® • Entering Grades 1-3 Session 4, July 27- August 7 (Wait List Only)Bring Minecraft to life using tens of thousands of LEGO®! Build engineer-designed projects such as a motorized Creeper, a portal to the Nether, and a moving Minecart! Create your favorite Minecraft objects with the guidance of an experienced Play-Well instructor. Whether you are new to Minecraft and LEGO or a seasoned veteran, you'll be hooked on the endless creative possibilities.

DRAMA • Entering Grades 3 – 9 Session 5, August 10-21Professional instructor, Frank Pendola from the Granite Theatre, will lead campers in exploration of various acting techniques, games/exercises, improvisation, communica-tion skills and music to learn about drama performance. Campers will perform a mini-show at the end of the ses-sion for the camp and families.

COUNSELOR-IN-TRAINING (CIT)Entering Grade 10, 7 weeks • July 6- August 21 Specifically designed to foster the transition from camper to counselor. CIT's will have sessions designed to teach leadership, camper management and self-management. They will also shadow counselors and receive “hands-on” training. Our goal of this program is to help teens develop into stronger leaders in their school, community and at camp! Application available online at www.campwatchaug.org or at the Westerly-Pawcatuck Branch. Interview required for acceptance into program.

TAILS & TRAILS • Entering Grades 2-6 Session 2, June 29-July 10YMCA Camp Watchaug is partnering up with the SUFA/Westerly Animal Shelter, to offer an opportunity for campers to spend ½ the day at the Animal Shelter and the other ½ at camp participating in traditional camp activities. While at the shelter campers will focus on learning compassion and respect for the animals. The hands on program will educate campers on what happens at the SUFA/Westerly Animal Shelter and how they can make a difference in an animal’s life. It will be a rewarding experience educating campers about animal welfare and what it takes to be a responsible pet owner. A Camp Watchaug counselor will also be with campers at all times at the shelter and on the bus.

Furry Friends • Entering Grades 2-3 Spend the morning learning about pet ownership and what it takes to be a good pet owner along with showing off your artistic skills in admiration of all of our furry friends and finding out that Reading is FUN by letting the furry friends be the camper’s captive reading audience.Drop off is at the shelter (INSERT ADDRESS) between 8:30 and 9:00am. Campers will participate in program from 9-noon, eat lunch and be transported by bus to camp for the afternoon. Campers may be picked up at camp at 4:00 pm or ride a bus to the bus stop of your choice.

Unleashed • Entering Grades 4-6Spend the morning at camp. At noon, campers will be transported to the Shelter where they will eat lunch and spend the afternoon learning all about animals. Playing…Fact or Fiction? Not everything you read is real and true. Can you tell the difference between animal facts and fiction? We will discover some myths and truths that people have every day. For the love of a pet! Do you have a passion for animals? Know the many ways animals make a difference in people’s lives? Learn about therapy dogs and cats, agility, and training. Reading is Fun! Let our furry friends be your captive audience for your child this summer.

Pick up is at the shelter between 4:00 and 4:40 pm. Campers may ride the bus to camp in the morning.

Animation, Imagination, GO! Entering Grades 2-9, Session 2, June29-July 10Camp Watchaug is collaborating with IncrediFlix to bring you fast paced stop-motion animation camps! There are no limits to where your imagination can take you, as you'll use different styles of stop-motion to make movies where your characters can go underwater, to a volcano, or even to outer space! Kids will become experts as we make up to 5 mini movies, leading up to a clay animated movie, wherekids will brainstorm, create their very own clay characters (that they keep), choose their backgrounds, film their movies using a green screen, and add voice-overs. It's the ultimate high–tech arts and crafts program where campers create, direct, and film their movies in age-appropriate groups. Within a month after the program ends, campers will receive their very own copy of the Flix professionally edited by IncrediFlix!

MYSTIC DAY CAMP

WHERE SUMMER LASTS A LIFETIMEMystic Day Camp is a licensed program for children ages 4-15. Camp runs from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm with extended care hours available.

OUR STAFFOur full-time year-round Camp Director and our team of full-time Y directors lead our summer camp staff. Each staff member is carefully selected through a comprehensive application and interview process under the direction of full time YMCA professionals. Every member of our staff has experience working with youth in a meaningful manner. Our staff is fully trained with an emphasis on being an exemplary role model, building camper self-esteem, creativity, safety, fun, and YMCA Spirit. Our programs are effective because of the QUALITY of our staff!

MYSTIC BEACH CAMPCamp days are filled with activities including arts and crafts, archery, canoeing, kayaking, nature programs, games, special events and swim lessons. Mystic Day Camp provides kids with fun, friends and personal growth that only summer camp can offer. Camp is an exciting outdoor experience for all children offering a variety of activities, which help campers build self-es-teem, confidence, independence and responsibility. All of this while enjoying the simple summertime fun with friends, new and old!

COUNSELOR IN TRAINING (CIT) PROGRAMEntering grades 9 & 10The Counselor in Training program is designed to pre-pare 9th and 10th graders to be our future counsel-ors. CIT’s will have the opportunity to learn the basics of being a group counselor and gain experience work-ing in, arts and crafts, swimming, archery, boating, on the waterfront and more. Our ultimate goal is to instill a unique sense of independence in our growing teens. This program will enable our CITs to shadow current counselors, attend leadership seminars with profes-sional Y staff and allow the CITs to plan and run their own activity with a group of campers.
