Using the same tools the Museum’s scientists use, we’ll explore everything from birds with binoculars to bugs with microscopes!

5th and 6th grade Nature Exploration

Although we live in a bustling city of buildings and people, there is a lot of natural plant and animal wildlife here too. As an elite team of explorers, you’ll get to choose and plan your own adventure to investigate the wilder side of Los Angeles. See first-hand the natural wonders that our city has to offer. This class includes an offsite field trip that the students will help plan.

KindergartenDinosaur, Roar! Big to small, fast and slow, ferocious and calm, dinosaurs came in many different forms. Stomp, chomp, and roar like a different dinosaur each day! Make claws that build nests, sharp teeth to catch prey, and travel to the time when dinosaurs roamed the Earth.

1st and 2nd gradeTriassic TalesDinosaurs ate, breathed, grew, and had families — just like us! Explore the daily life of dinosaurs through children’s stories. Meet our life-sized T. rex puppet, build a kelp forest and make your own dino art.

3rd and 4th gradeDino DescendantsSince the beginning of time, animals have been adapting. How did certain dinosaurs survive the extinction? And where are the dino descendants now? Explore the Museum and find out how dinos and animals of today are built for survival.

5th and 6th gradeDinosaur MysteriesPeople have discovered dinosaur bones for thousands of years, and those findings gave rise to mythical creatures like dragons! What if you had found it those bones instead? Can you beat the clock and be the first to unravel the mystery of the dinosaurs?

KindergartenMini MinersGet hands-on in some of the Museum’s newest spaces! From foraging to farming to mining, campers will step inside the shoes of their Los Angeles ancestors and experience life as they knew it.

1st and 2nd gradeArchaeologist QuestWhat we find in the ground can tell us much about our ancestors. Break out your chisels to uncover the lives of native Angelenos! Who were the Chumash? What did they eat and how did the land help them survive? Explore Museum halls and investigate artifacts from our very own collections to answer these questions!

3rd and 4th gradeLos Angeles Time Travelers Let’s go 100 years into the past, but take a trip into the future as well! Each day, campers will meet one historical figure from L.A. and live life through his or her eyes. They will even spend a day visiting some of L.A.’s most famous landmarks right in Exposition Park! By the end of the week, campers will share their own ideas on what is in store for the City of Angels in the next 100 years.

5th and 6th grade Lights, Camera, Los Angeles!

Give your child the chance to experience Los Angeles through film! Learn about 19th and 20th century L.A. while exploring the Museum’s brand new exhibits.
