You can call their music, blues, soul, roots music...or, as Sonny Boy Williamson said: “You can call it your Mama if you want to.” With a sound that spans all genres while still somehow sounding like a Chicago blues band in so many respects, the four member Nighthawks have remained one of the top-rated bands. Sponsored by Atasia Spa Local music stars, they put their own twist on crowd pleasing hits from the ‘60s to the ‘80s. Benefit Berkeley Springs State Park Foundation. This authentic, five-member band has lightning fast award-winning picking skills and musical arrangements mixed with natural comedic wit and high lonesome mountain vocal harmonies. These attributes blend with a knack for original songwriting and a strong passion for old time and traditional music. Purveyors of classic American swing and small group jazz from the 30’s, 40’s and 50’s, this five member ensemble keeps a traditional feel, and adds to the classic repertoire by writing originals with an authentic sound. It’s always a fun trip with these three acappella singers as they cover vast territory, from obscure old ballads and old- time songs to doo wop, R&B and Motown, to complex 1940s Afro-American gospel. Their great love is American vernacular music, its roots and offshoots, and they rock it all. Voted the Best Blues Band in the Mid Atlantic Region 12 years in a row, the seven member Kelly Bell Band from Baltimore, Maryland is a genre-expanding act that combines elements of hip-hop, funk, blues-electrified, Delta and horn driven. Another 2017 rained-out band that we think you shouldn’t miss.
