Grace Notes from the Pastor

Summer 2013

If there’s one thing we can probably all agree on it’s this...there’s too much

bad news out there! Turn on the TV, check online news sources, turn on the car

radio and soon you’re saturated with headlines of natural disasters, recent fires,

global terrorism...need I say more?

Which is why I was delighted to find a website out there called

GoodNewsNetwork.org! The minute I opened it up I was overwhelmed with news

about good samaritans swarming into Moore, Oklahoma to help with the recovery

efforts, a joyful wedding of a woman stricken with cancer and a stranger who left a

struggling waitress a thousand dollar tip to help fulfill her dream of visiting and

researching her family roots in Italy.

There IS good news out there, friends, and a whole lot more than any

newspaper can cover! But without question, the best news is the One who lives in

our hearts, the One who helps us bring good news to those who are hungry, poor,

needy, and who “...so loved the world that He gave us his only Son, so that we

might not perish, but have everlasting life.”

That’s the good news headline that lives in each of our hearts! So in lieu of

the sour news that seems to make all of the headlines, let’s make this a summer to

remember by continuing to express our love for Christ by worshipping Him, giving

generously to our church’s ministries, and being the Good News Network for our

families, our community and the whole world!

God’s grace and peace be with you all!

Treasurer’s Report Linda Verrastro

As of May 31st, the general operating

bills and ministry shares are current,

and I hope to report the same news

at the end of August. As we move

into the summer months, we ask that

you continue to support the church

by keeping your pledge up to date.

Even though vacations, family

reunions and other activities may

periodically disrupt your regular

attendance at church, we still need

your financial help during this time.

Stuebenville, OH is our upcoming Church Trip mission site.

This trip is multi-generational, and is open to all who are interested in

Mission Work. The charming, small town of Steubenville, OH sits on

the banks of the Ohio River. Residents take pride in the city’s history, while also enjoying its current slow-paced and friendly atmosphere. But like other small towns, some residents in Steubenville struggle with

poverty. We have the opportunity to share the love of Christ by serving many residents in need in this

community—through children’s and elderly ministries and home improvement projects. We hope that you

will be moved to join us.
