Suilven’s movements in 2011 09 January 2011 Suilven was north of Alladale on 4th January and then had moved south to the hills north of Inchbae by 8th January.

Suilven's locations on 8th January 2011 16 January 2011: Moving west again Suilven was north of Inchbae, west slopes of Ben Wyvis on 11th January, and then moved west being north of Loch Droma on 14th and further west on 16th January.

Locations 11th - 16th January

21 January 2011: To Fannich Hills Suilven flew south to the eastern corries of the Fannich Hills on 18th January and then roosted that night to the west of An Cabar, southeast of Loch Fannich. On 19th he was back north of Beinn Dearg and roosted that night east of the Fannich Hills.

28 January 2011: Backtracked Suilven flew back north to the hills between Braemore Junction and Loch Droma, and then east to the mountains to the north of Loch Glascarnoch.

Locations 24th to 28th January

14 February 2011: North to Corriemulzie Suilven flew back north through Alladale Estate to linger in the hills south of Oykell Hotel, on Corriemulzie and Croich estates.

February 6th to 13th 18 February 2011: No change Suilven was on Croich Estate 13th to 17th February, sometimes roosting in the conifer plantations.

February 13th to 17th locations

01 March: 2011 Further movements Suilven south on the 25th to the area north of Garbat, and then moved further southwest to be just north of Loch Mullardoch where he roosted overnight on 28th February. Then flew northwest towards Glen Carron and was in the hills east of Coulags on March 1st.

February 25th to March 1st 04 March 2011 Moved north of 4th March into the hills to the south of the west end of Loch Rosque, near Achnasheen. 19 March 2011 Suilven flew north of Inverlael on 9th and since then has been in the area between East Rhidorroch and Creag Loisgte, south of Lubcroy.

March 9th to 17th 26 March 2011: Flight to Cape Wrath side Suilven moved west and from 20th to 23rd of March was in the area south of Loch Urigill, but later on the 23rd he made a big move of 65 km north. After roosting just south of the Loch Urigill he flew east and at 2pm was just south of Loch Ailsh (near enough in his parent's home range) and then flew north and at 4pm was flying to the west of Loch Glencoul. He kept flying strongly in this direction and 6pm was perched to the south side of Creag Riabhach, on Cape Wrath side - near enough as far Northwest as he could go. He roosted overnight on the northwest side of the mountain. He was still in much the same area and slightly east throughout the 24th and 25th March.

30 March 2011: Back down south Suilven visited the hills south of Durness on east side of Kyle and then back south via Inchnadamph to Loch Chroisk.

March 26th to 30th 03 April 2011: Settled again Suilven has settled again in the same area between Loch Chroisk and south of Lubcroy.

10 April 2011: Same general area Suilven has remained in the north Oykell to Benmore area.

Range 4th to 9th April 17 April 2011 Suilven has spent the last week in an area of 44 km² between East Rhidorroch and Meall an Fhuarian.

25 April 2011: Moving around and off to Strathvaich Suilven flew north to Knockan on the 22nd and then east to Ben More Lodge. She spent the 23rd to the 25th on the moorlands south west of Loch Shin and then on the 25th flew south over Alladale to spend the end of the day on Strathvaich, roosting that evening west of the loch.

April 22nd to 25th 29 April 2011 On 26th April, Suilven flew south to Dundonnell at 2pm and then on south to Alligin, north of Loch Torridon at 4pm. He roosted that night just west of Slioch, and then next day he flew north to Rhidorroch and then settled in the hills to the east of East Rhidorroch. 12 May 2011: Ranging widely Ranging widely in an area of 152 square km. After being in the Rhidorroch area he moved east to Carn Ban and ranged north and west over 7th and 8th May. He returned to Rhidorroch and ranged north nearly as far as Loch Urigill and then on 12th flew to Alladale and then south by evening to the hills east of Strathvaich.

Range May 7th to 13th 15 May 2011: Down to Kintail He left Strathvaich area on 13th May and flew south during the day over Glascarnoch to the Fannich Hills and then south over Achanalt, Strathconon and Loch Monar and by 8pm was at Carnach in Kintail. He then settled for the next two days to east of Ciste Dubh, north of Loch Cluanie.

18th May 2011: Over to Loch Hourn At midday on 17th he flew south of the Kyle road and at 1pm was at Aonach air Chrith and then carried on to inner Loch Hourn.

21 May 2011: Quick visit to Isle of Skye and back Suilven flew west from Cluanie on 19th May and made a round trip to Skye, reaching the island at 6pm and then returning to south of Loch Cluanie.

May 18th to 22nd

25 May 2011 Suilven has remained in the hills between Cluanie Inn and Loch Quoich. 04 June 2011: Back north Suilven flew back north to a favourite area to the south of Strathcarron, south to Carn Salachaidh and east to Ardchronie, near Ardgay. Then on afternoon of 4th June flew south to Loch Glascarnoch.

May 28th to June 4th 22 June 2011: Mid Ross Suilven was in the hills south of the Achnasheen road on 11th to 14th June, then flew south to the hills north of Erchless, Strathglass, and then slowly north to Loch Mullardoch on 18th to 19th and back to Achnasheen on 20th to 22nd June.

June 11th to 22nd 10 July 2011: Mid Ross Suilven continued to range around Achnasheen and then moved a little east to be south of Loch Fannich on July 10th. He has been in an area of 80 square km.

June 28th to July 9th

22 July 2011: North to the west Rhidorroch hills Suilven left the Loch Fannich area on the 12th and moved north to the area around Loch Droma and then on to the mountains area west of Rhidorroch, which he frequented previously.

July 10th to 20th 02 August 2011: No change Suilven continues to live in a large area to the east and northeast of East Rhidorroch. 22 August 2011: Big Flight Achnasheen to Durness Suilven had returned to the Achnasheen area was there until 12th when he moved north to the west end of Loch Fannich. At midday on 14th he headed off north and roosted that night in remote moorlands south of Loch Urigill. Next day at 1pm he was over Breabag and flew over his parents' home range at Inchnadamph and without stopping was at Laxford Bridge by 2pm He carried on and at 3pm was at Ghlas Bheinn on Cape Wrath side, south of Durness. An interesting northwards flight of 110 km.

August 10th to 21st 29 August 2011: East to Ben Hope Headed south on 23rd and 24th at 6pm crossed the Durness road and settled on northwest slopes of Foinavon. On 26th flew east and at 2pm was on the north side of Ben Hope after that settled until 2pm on 29th in the area between Ben Hope and Kinloch.

August 23rd to 29th

09 September 2011: East to Caithness

On 1st flew west over Ben Hope and settled in hills to SE of Loch Eriboll. Next day at midday few back over Loch Hope and flew to the hills NW of Altnaharra. Flew east on 5th to Glutt Lodge in Caithness and the south to Berriedale and Langwell Estates.

17 September 2011: Braemore to Borrobol

Suilven was on the Caithness border between Knochfin and Berriedale until 15th of September, when he flew west and ended up to the west of Altanduin on Borrobol Estate.

September 8th-17th

26 September 2011: Circuit of Flow Country

On 18th he flew NW to Strathnaver and then flew to Borgie. Returned to Creag nan Fiadh, Borrobol by 25th September via Kinbrace, and roosted there that night.

September 18th-26th

30 September 2011: Local wandering

Suilven flew east at 2 PM on the 26th across Strath Helmsdale and settled in the hills north east of Kildonan and around Creag Scalabsdale. At 11 AM on the 30th he flew back west to an area of moorlands north of Strath Brora.

06 October 2011: NE Sutherland

Suilven was SW of Borrobol on 1st and 2nd of October and then in the afternoon of the 2nd flew North East to Langwell Estate, by 4th he was north and west of Morven and then flew back to Langwell strath.

October 1st-8th

20 October 2011: Ranging widely

Suilven ranged over an area of nearly 365 square km centred on Kinbrace between 9th and 19th October, from Berriedale to Ben Griams, but mainly NW and S of Morven.

October 9th-19th

29 October 2011: Moved SW

Suilven around Morven to 23rd and then flew SW to Loch Choire and then on 24th across Loch Shin and settled there between the loch and Ben Sgeireadh to 28th October.

October 21st-28th

13 November 2011: A circular trip

Suilven remained between Loch Shin and Strathoykell and then on 2nd was at Breabag and by 2pm on 3rd was well south of Loch Urigill then flew east and by evening on 5th was back in Strathoykell.

27 November 2011: Another journey

Suilven remained in Glencassley until 16th November, when he flew west by Benmore Lodge and then NW to be close to Kylesku on 17th at 2pm. He continued north and roosted overnight on 18th/19th November at Cranstackie, south of Durness. On 20th he was roosting north of Glengolly and next evening was north of Achfary. On 2nd he was near Merland Lodge at 2pm and then flew west to roost overnight SW of Achfary. From 23rd to 25th he was in the hills to the east of Loch Merkland.

November 12th-25th

04 December 2011: Flight through Sutherland

Suilven flew north to the Kylesku to Achfary area on 27th and then on 30th flew to Glengolly, and on 1st December flew east to Meadie Rock. On 2nd roosted above Loch Loyal and then on 2nd near Syre and Strathnaver, and on December 3rd was just south of Loch Baddanloch.

November 28th-December 3rd

14 December 2011: On to Alladale

On 6th Suilven was on Ben Armine Estate and then flew south to be east of Lairg on 7th and roosted overnight in woods near Spinningdale. On 8th moved to Loch Dola area near Lairg and then flew south to Alladale estate on 9th to 11th December.

December 4th-11th

18 December 2011: Round trip to Inverlael

Suilven left Alladale on 14th and flew via Glascarnoch to Inverlael Forest,and on 17th flew back same track to Alladale.

31 December 2011: Local flights

Suilven was on Alladale or Croick estates from 23rd to 29th December, but that day at 2pm he had flown south to Loch Morie and then returned north to Glencalvie where he was still present on 31st.
