■ SUCCESS-STORY

The airport’s requirements:

reliability, availability and access

right management

Guadeloupe - Pôle Caraïbes Airport initially needed to replace its access cont ro l s ys tem to speed up movements of personnel between public areas and boarding areas. The Alcea solution, proposed by DRM, convinced the airport by its capacity to speed up badge checking and thus improve working comfort for its personnel. In addition to its high level of availability, the Alcea solution was chosen because it interfaces directly with the access right management system of the DGAC (Direction Générale de l’Aviation Civile).

An essential part of the badge creation process, this gateway (SGITA) between the two databases allows automatic checking that the person for whom the badge is created is authorised to access the restricted area. Today, the Alcea solution has been installed throughout the 28 000 m² airport zone - in the passenger terminal, the freight terminal and the fire station and in the plant rooms and electrical rooms, giving a total of more than 80 controlled access points on 5 different sites.

In addition, airport personnel access to boarding areas is subject to specific verification carried out using the Alcea solution. Each time a person goes through the access control gate, the security officer automatically displays the badge with its photograph to check that the person is the holder and that the badge is still valid.

Alkey key cabinets: a guarantee of maximum safety

To ensure maximum security for the use of plant room and freight zone keys, DRM offered to install two Alkey key cabinets. Airport and CCI personnel and outside service providers have access to these cabinets which are protected by a badge reader. When the badge is swiped, only the authorised keys are released, the others remaining locked. A record of the use of these keys is stored in the software and all the key cabinets are controlled from the Alcea supervisor.

Video protection: a key asset for baggage area security Personnel movements between the baggage and the runway are extremely tightly controlled: only one person at a time can move from one area to another.

DRM Antilles has therefore opted for the

creation of special air locks equipped

with video protection cameras

A local partnership at the heart of

the project’s success

Since 2006, DRM has been helping the airport to optimise its security policy. “We are proud of the partnership we have built with Guadeloupe – Pôle Caraïbes Airport. We have always been able to adapt to their changes while simultaneously meeting their cost control requirements. With the opening of the new regional hub scheduled for 2014, we have fine prospects for development ahead of us,” says Eric Juilly, Chairman of DRM.
