• API RP 17Q First Edition (2010) – Standardized Documentation for Qualification.
• API RP 17N Second Edition – Annex E & Annex F on Technology Qualification
• In 2015, task group 17Q stood up by API SC17 to create a new RP on qualification
• API RP 17Q 2nd Edition issued May 2018 – Subsea Equipment Qualification
• Other qualification processes – DNV A203 (focus on new tech only), NASA/DoD, individual company practices

Standard Qualification Program (SQP)
• Definition: Qualification program that uses qualification activities prescribed within existing standards applicable to the technology
• Allows a qualifier to perform qualification per existing industry standard procedure (i.e. API 6A Annex F)
• Recommends a qualifier to perform Q-FMECA

Technology Qualification Program (TQP)
• Definition: Qualification program that utilizes Q-FMECA to identify qualification activities necessary to qualify the technology in line with the identified goals and requirements.
• Requires Q-FMECA to inform qualification plan specific for the product.
