O Subject-Verb agreement is the same concept in English and German.

O It is the process or the state of the subject and the verb matching in person (1st, 2nd, 3rd) and number (singular or plural).

O It involves a process called verb conjugation.

What is Conjugation?

O Conjugation is the process of making the subject and verb “agree.”

O There are some necessary parts: the subject, the verb, the verb stem and the verb ending.

O The subject may be a pronoun or a noun (or noun phrase).

O The endings need to be memorized.

capitalized (ich).O there are 3 different ways to say

“you.”O Each “you” refers to a specific

audience.O There is also a difference between

What is a Verb Stem?

O A verb stem is the part of the verb left over after you take off the –en or –n ending

O wohnen = to liveO take off the –en and you are left withwohn

O wohn = the stem
