I t all began on another regular evening, discussing the day that had gone by, the new clothes that my wife had bought, and in particular how every wom-

an (and most men) enjoy shopping for new clothes, shoes and accessories… but we felt restricted in how often, which stores and how much we could spend over the last few years, as the economic downturn set in. So we started thinking...

STYLECARD WAS BORNWe realised that there are several voucher sites and discount code sites. However, the main problem as a consumer, is that you don’t quite know what dis-count you’ll be getting. More importantly though, is that you don’t know when you’ll get it, and most importantly, where. This isn’t helpful when planning ahead for an occasion or a special event. Nor is it ideal for impulse shopping (which can be extremely therapeutic and often the most fun type of shopping!)

That day the StyleCard concept was born. StyleCard is a members club, for those of us who love to shop, wheth-er to refresh the wardrobe, or simply engage in some retail therapy. The aim is to allow us all to shop in those stores that perhaps we’ve felt reluctant to do so over the last few years, when we want, on what we want, whilst making savings at the same time. StyleCard will be your number one ‘go-to’ site, your ‘style companion’, help-ing you decide what to purchase, in the vast arena that is fashion.

At the same time you’ll be saving on all your purchases, which makes the experience just that little bit more ex-citing! We may not have every store that you shop in on board at the start, but we are building our partner base steadily, and are happy to hear who else you’d like in-cluded. We’d also suggest having a look around the vast variety of brands on offer today and perhaps you might just find that hidden gem you never knew about.

Focus on MenswearFor SS12, the catwalks were awash with deep hues of blue, with Burberry to Bottega Veneta, and Salvatore Ferragamo to E Tautz, all showcasing this stereotypically masculine colour. The best thing about this trend is that it is versatile, meaning that it appeals to everyone, whilst falling perfectly into several other current trends, from casual to formal. This makes blue the colour trend to follow this summer.

W ith the beginnings of summer hitting Europe, it’s now the time to invest in a summer wardrobe, and we discuss a few of the upcoming trends.

With the Olympics fast approaching, sportswear is ear-ning its rightful place in menswear trends for the sum-mer. But for those of you who aren’t fans of skin-tight Lycra, you can still grab the trend torch in both hands with a more relaxed approach to urban sportswear. We suggest that the best way to inject a little bit of the Olympics-style into your day-to-day wardrobe, particu-larly when travelling to and from the gym, is by inves-ting in a pair of joggers. Accessories are also important to completing your look, so ditch those unsightly gym trainers for a pair of casual sneakers. Less bulky in de-sign, they are the stylish alternative and can be worn with just about anything. The Converse Athletic or the

Lacoste L!VE Barbados Trainers are our choices.

SUMMER PARTIESWith the warmer weather, it’s almost guaranteed that your diary is filling up with both pre-arranged and impromptu parties, so it has never been as important to always be looking your best. Design your summer party outfit around an eye-catching centre-piece, such as a crisp lightweight blazer – the staple for any stylish summer wardrobe. Traditionally, a crisp white shirt is the best match for a well-pressed blazer. However, if you are a fan of challenging the traditional style trends, then choose a shirt with a bit more personality. There is nothing more important than a dashing pair of summer shoes to match your blazer, and we recoommend the US Polo Association Bert leather shoes.

MIRANDA KERR

A shirt is a staple piece every woman should have, and Mi-randa perfectly demonstrates why. It can easily be dressed up or down, and works well when teamed with other staple pieces. Roll the sleeves up to create a relaxed look.

Shirt from Urban Outfitters

Jeans work great with a shirt. Apart from being blessed with great genes, Miranda is often seen in fitted bottoms that complement and accentuate her figure.

Jeans from Urban Outfitters

She balances this out by adding volume or texture with her tops to complete the look. Tuck your shirt into a fitted pair of jeans to define your waist and show off those legs.

Hat from Urban Outfitters

Miranda cleverly uses her footwear and accessories to smarten up her look for a smart/casual outfit that is effortlessly chic.

Boots from Urban Outfitters

Miranda is often seen wearing simple pieces that have been well put together to create her simple yet fresh look.

Rihanna and Zoe Saldana are both style icons, each with a unique image. Here we contrast a festival outfit for Rihanna with Zoe's casual wear. Both hitting key trends for this summer but showing diversity in choices.

Text StyleCard Photo HQ Pictures

With festival season fast approaching, we’re all looking for inspiration for our camping outfits. Kicking off the summer with a bang was the star studded Coachella, which saw some of our favourite fashionistas getting down and dirty in the fields. Take a tip or two from Rihanna, and ditch the pretty, ‘boho’ festival style, and give your outfit a sexy edge, with some denim hot pants, crop top, and killer shades. Detailed denim is a must-have this season. These leopard print detail, denim shorts, as they have just as much sex appeal as her studded shorts but aren’t so ‘in your face'.

Zoe Saldana is forever looking fabulous! She often opts for glamorous outfits that show-case her amazing figure in the best possible way. Although she exudes sexiness on the red carpet, she also has a very simple and toned-down look which is prefect for her day-to-day. Simple jeans and a tee, teamed with a pair of comfortable heels, creates a casual look with a touch of glamour. Fitted jeans and T-shirt are balanced out with the help of a cardigan, which drapes around the hips, allowing the silhouette to become a main focal point during the day.

‘Indie’ has turned mainstream in the form of thick, platformed lace-ups. It’s a trend you can’t ignore, literally. With the likes of Rihanna and Rita Ora recently exhibiting pairs by Underground London, it’s fair to say the rock ‘n’ roll vibe has shot back onto the street style scene. Perfect for any occasion, whether it be raving in an underground nightclub, or hitting the streets in style, these shoes add a touch of the hipster to any outfit.

GLORIA IVANOVA

G loria Ivanova’s numerous successes may well make you surprised to learn that she is only 23 years old.

With two hit collections under her belt, which stormed the Bulgarian capital, and now taking part in the finals for the international Triumph 2012 competition, this is one designer that has firmly cemented her place onto our style radar. Modest and humble, she takes a wider view of fash-ion, admitting that she is inspired by larger concepts and personal values above and beyond what may be hot on the catwalk. Working to her own rhythm, she appreciates the striking simplicity of minimalism and defines herself as a conceptual designer inspired by the female body and her own search for a unique aesthetic in her designs. This vision is visible in her latest collection, available at DZNR Showcase. With the individual perks and quirks of her garmernts, we see a bright future for this promising talent.

INSPIRATIONGloria is inspired by the zeitgeist, the beautiful shapes in nature and the purity of minimalism. Exploring individuality through fashion transforma-tions and harmonic designs, the conceptual designer uses forms that symbolise meta-morphosis, philosophy and conceptions, which express the femininity.

Ones To Watch

Zuri's Rising Star

Music and fashion very much go hand in hand, and so in our regular "ones to watch" feature, we highlight a rising star from the world of music, as well as a few of our fashion partners.

Text Jane Doe Photo John Doe

U rban Outfitters is a little company that got big. Starting off in the USA, they have ventured into Europe and say they're "not finished" as "there

are still places we want to go, and places you want us to come to. Don't worry, we're planning it all out".

"THE EPITOME OF COOL"Urban Outfitters is the epitome of cool. It has a true focus on fashion trends, a youthful, edgy vibe and is the place to shop for fashion-forward clothing, whilst being right on the pulse of all things stylish, on the high street. For men and women alike, it’s not that you’ll simply want to shop from Urban Outfitters, but we believe you’ll need to – and not just on clothing and accessories, but also books and homeware! And now StyleCard members can receive 10% off all online pur-chases.

NOT FORGETTING...We highlight some brands that you may not have had the pleasure of wearing. Each has a unique style. James Lakeland has created a versatile, wearable collection, whether it be for daytime or evening wear. Muubaa takes leather to another level, redefining what's possible, with each piece telling a different story of contrast. Karen Kane designs clothing that makes women feel comfor-table and stylish. The perfect combination!

Z uri Star was brought up with a heavy focus on theater, dance, and music. Her mixed "brady-bunch" esque family suffered a lot of tragedies

and Zuri recalls this is why she started writing songs. As for singing, she pauses and says "singing is the only way I know how to deeply connect and breathe."

MUSICIn 2008 she independently released her first single "Walk With Me," written by Zuri and Mike K. (David Archuleta, Natasha Bedingfield). That year, "Walk With Me," was selected as a finalist in several contests such as the Uber.com "You Bring the Talent" contest, The International Songwriting Competition and licensed to a film. Zuri is currently working on her new single, but if her song "Keep Holding On" from her album "My Number One" is anything to go by, we expect great things - Zuri is our rising star to watch!

Ones To WatchJAMES LAKELAND

MUUBAA

KAREN KANE

James Lakeland is a wom-enswear brand which is Made in Italy, offering women a complete wardrobe from day to night which is versatile, effortless and wearable, but with a unique twist. The aim at James Lakeland is to make women feel great in their clothes whether they are a size 8 or a size 20.

Muubaa redefines what is pos-sible with leather, challenging the notion that leather can only ever look good as a biker jacket, (though in their own words they "do love a great biker jacket"). Whether worn as a statement or layered into an overall style, Muubaa pieces bring a refined edge and texture to any look.

Karen Kane’s approach to fashion is simple. She designs clothing for the woman that wants to feel comfortable, without sacrificing her sense of style. Always on the go with her family and friends, she proves that it is possible to look smart, sexy, and sophisticated all at once.

ZURI STAR - KEEP HOLDING ON

Full of life, passion, and love Zuri’s music is clearly defined as Pop

but she breaks the rules by infusing them with

meaning beyond the club, the hype, and at the core we get who

she is, Zuri is a LOVER!

FESTIVAL STYLE The festival season officially started with Coachella. Have your got your fes-tival outfits sorted as yet? Californian weather is often not quite what the UK experiences, so you’d better pack your wellies if you want to party in style (and keep your feet dry).
