This screen shows the possible resources you may like to use.

We will presume that we are trying to find resources for a Year 5 class on Area.

Click on the AREA link

Area

At Year 5 Level the state wide curriculum asks for the following skills:

Numeracy 3.5

-estimation and measurement of surface area; for example, use of square metres, and area of land; for example, use of hectares

Brown level activities will suit the necessary VELS expectations

Watch the video provided, as you may find it suitable to use as in an Introductory lesson.

I suggest to do the task yourself as well before you set it to ensure that it is suitable for the outcomes you want!

Linking it to the curriculum

While Study Ladder is a great tool to incorporate into your classroom it is not directly linked to Victorian

Essential Learning Standards. This can make things a little more time consuming for yourself the first

few times, however soon enough you will see that it actually enables you to cater activities towards

individual students to help them the best you can!

Page 14: Study Ladder

This is an example of one child's results in various topics...

Page 15: Study Ladder

When you start using Study Ladder you will find the students staring to interact about how ‘cool’ and different Maths is becoming at school!

Continue to look at the other resources in Study Ladder and I encourage you to do some of the activities and set some tasks to get feedback from your students too!

Page 16: Study Ladder

ICT SkillsStudy Ladder will not only benefit

students in the areas of Numeracy and Literacy, but the entire site will be great to increase ICT skills!

It can be a daunting task to keep up with all of the current technologies that children are using, but by incorporating into your curriculum will always be advantageous!

Money Money Money

Study Ladder is a free application for teachers to use , and students can access the site for free! There are costs involved if parents are trying to access it or other family members outside of school, however it seems to be a bonus application that you should be encouraging in your classroom with mostly no cost involved!
