STUDIO MONITORING SOLUTIONS

KRK Systems is one of the world’s most respected manufacturers of studio reference monitors. We achieved and have maintained this position by focusing on accuracy, honesty and balanced spectral response with the goal of making it possible for recording engineers to hear every nuance of the audio being reproduced. KRK monitors are tools that are cherished by their owners as partners in crafting great music and mixes. For over a quarter of a century, we have been driven by a design philosophy of precision, transparency, and flat response. Our products deliver on this promise through a combination of solid design and technical innovation. We were among the first manufacturers to take a quantum leap in woofer performance through the use of Kevlar. Our VXT monitors are constructed from a remarkable material that allows for its diffraction-reducing shape while increasing internal cabinet volume for better low frequency extension. The pinnacle of audio performance, the KRK Expose E8B uses composite materials that provide the ultimate in detail and accuracy. We were among the first to introduce active (powered) monitors that precisely match amplifiers and electronics with the transducer elements. These are all examples of innovations that produce tangible acoustic benefits, not a pursuit of the latest trends or fads. Our focus is your mix, and every monitor, headphone and room correction system delivers on this commitment. When you choose KRK, you join a family of elite producers, composers, performers and engineers that rely on KRK products to deliver accurate sound reproduction and acoustic precision, day in and day out. The signature yellow woofer of a KRK monitor tells the world that you and your monitor are true to the mix and true to your craft. KRK studio monitors enable you to confidently make the critical decisions that impact the music and audio program material the world listens to.

The KRK Exposé E8B is the flagship of KRK’s product line. Dollar for dollar, mix for mix Exposé E8B blends technology and form to achieve a level of clarity and sonic accuracy that is unprecedented. This mid-field monitor utilizes two discrete high-power Class A/AB power amplifiers — one each for the tweeter and woofer — with symmetrical heat sinks built into the sides of the cabinet for cool, reliable operation. These two amplifiers are perfectly mated to the exceptional transducer complement. The high frequencies are reproduced using a revolutionary tweeter made of beryllium and aluminum (AlBeMet). This advanced composite material delivers smooth and incredibly detailed highs, thanks to the strength and ultra-low mass of this amazing tweeter. This high-frequency performance is teamed with a signature KRK yellow multilayered Kevlar/Rohacell woofer. The Kevlar/Rohacell “sandwich” provides strength and stiffness without excess mass, resulting in bass and transients that are tight, punchy, and true to life and your mix. These components are housed in a stunning, highly functional enclosure that features thick, non-parallel, internal walls that help eliminate standing waves, a non-slip, sound absorbing rubberized base, and magnetic shielding for use in close proximity to video monitors. The Exposé E8B is the pinnacle of studio monitor performance and reinforces KRK’s reputation as a manufacturer of premium studio reference monitors.

“With KRK Expose I was looking for a pair of speakers that were consistent, and were easy to carry with me, that had enough power to allow me to turn them up and be able to fill the control room with music, but also a speaker that I could turn down and get musical balances, and know that what I was hearing in the studio I was also taking home. And it was a speaker I just bonded with right away.”

The first thing I noticed was the comfort...just great. Then I was extremely impressed with the sound quality...clear and natural. What struck me was how they didn’t sound as much like headphones, but more like KRK studio monitors. The more I use KRK, from the headphones to my V8s to my E8s...what I have come to expect and enjoy is the extremely accurate and consistent reproduction of sound. Just fantastic!”

Professional recording studios, broadcast studios, serious project studios... these are demanding applications for any monitor. If you need more power, more accuracy, more precision, more mounting options, look no further than KRK’s VXT line. Drawing upon the design characteristics of our Exposé E8B, the VXT product family consists of the VXT8 near/mid-field, the VXT6 nearfield, and the VXT4 nearfield, with bass response that is remarkable for such a compact cabinet. All three models have a visually striking enclosure made out of structural foam. This material increases speaker performance by reducing cabinet resonance while improving structural integrity. Due to its rigidity, this material allows the VXT to have more interior volume than other similarly sized speakers, which results in extended low-frequency response. The VXT’s sleek curvature provides excellent imaging and a wider sweet spot giving engineers greater freedom to accurately work their mix across the whole desk. Integrated in the front, the slotted bass port effectively minimizes port turbulence. The domed tweeter is made from true silk for fast transient response. The low distortion woofer design features a stiff and lightweight cone with a robust motor to control high dynamic peak excursion, while delivering tight and accurate bass. Both transducers have vented formers to remove heat and reduce the effects of power compression — enabling these monitors to maintain their sonic signature hour after hour, day after day. With uncompromising attention to detail that includes tamper resistant switch covers, integrated mounting support, optional front grills and more, the VXT Series is an outstanding choice for a broad range of monitoring applications.

“What I like about the KRK VXT is two-fold: The Kevlar woofer is a wonderful thing; it gives and takes as demanded by the music. The silk tweeter gives you a little more separation between the minute frequencies. I monitor at whisper-quiet levels to downright loud, and there’s no ear-fatigue at all. I don’t know how you can make that accurate of a speaker at the price range you do!”

Just because your budget is smaller than that of a mega-studio doesn’t mean you don’t deserve a great set of monitors. For years, KRK Rokit monitors have provided accurate sound for small personal, project as well as pro studios. The Rokit family brings KRK quality monitoring to the masses. All Rokits feature curved edges to prevent problems caused by early sound wave reflections of a traditional box enclosure. This results in a better image in a wider area so even with small head movements you are always getting the best sound-staging. Rokit G2s also feature a great looking cabinet with a front-firing bass port and a glass-aramid composite woofer for tight, punchy bass. The soft-domed tweeters provide silky-smooth high-frequency response that does not fatigue. Dual high-power amplifiers in each speaker and active crossovers provide solid power and crystal-clear detail. And Rokits are easy to connect in any desktop or studio environment by offering the flexibility of RCA/Phono, ¼” and XLR inputs. This latest evolution in the Rokit series features an incredibly accurate response curve , and delivers professional level studio monitor performance at an incredibly affordable price.

The newest addition to the family, the Rokit RP10-3, is a Mid-field 3-way monitor system in a compact form factor and at a breakthrough price that delivers loud and accurate sound reproduction to satisfy professional needs. The RP10-3 will suit commercial facilities in need of more capable mid-fields as well as space and budget conscious private studios. The high SPL output makes it capable of handling challenging high dynamic tracks for all genres of music. The Rokit RP10-3 offers location flexibility by placing the tweeter and midrange in a unique rotatable housing. Whether they are vertical, placed on their side or wall mounted – the proper orientation of the acoustic axis can be maintained!

ROKIT TECH NOTE:Front-firing port provides low freq extension without boundary coupling. Radically curved front plate design virtually eliminates diffraction distortion. The tweeter and midrange housing rotates for horizontal placement.

Surround sound mixing and today’s bass-heavy music demand accurate sound reproduction in the bass frequencies. Subwoofers allow you to use smaller main monitors, make it possible to monitor the essential low frequency range and can be a great solution for space-challenged control rooms or mixing environments. When dealing with subsonic frequencies -- if they cannot be heard accurately they cannot be mixed accurately.

The KRK12sHO powered subwoofer is the perfect High Output choice for professional studios, where ultra-accurate bass extension and maximum sound levels are required. Powered by a massive 400 watt amplifier and a strengthened version of our signature Kevlar woofer with ultra dense rigid multilayer dust cap, the KRK12sHO is the no-compromise way to hear what is happening in the depths of your mix, capable of generating 123dB of SPL.

The KRK12s powered subwoofer is an ideal complement to KRK VXT series, KRK Rokit series, or any other 6”-10” studio monitor. The KRK12s is designed to extend the response of an existing monitor system so that the low-frequency portion of the mix can be engineered. The KRK12s features the powerful accurate and low distortion sound that is the hallmark of all KRK monitor systems. An efficient and low distortion 240-watt amplifier makes the KRK12s perfect for project and professional studio applications that require increased signal pressure.

The KRK10s powered subwoofer has a smaller form factor than the 12” models and is a great addition in a studio running KRK Rokit, VXT or any other 4”-8” studio monitor. The KRK10s subwoofer also features a great looking cabinet that echoes the curved edges of the Rokit and VXT monitors. The front-firing bass port and KRK’s signature yellow glass-aramid composite woofer ensure accurate and powerful low-end punch.

“I’ve always loved having a sub to wow record companies or artists when playing back a song or mix. The truth is, most subs are only good for that purpose and are not accurate enough to work with when making a record. The KRK12s changed that. It’s very accurate and actually makes my Expose’s sound even better!”

A great mix starts with a great recording room. But when it comes to achieving the most accurate mix, your room may have the upper hand. Like any room, your studio’s acoustics include offending frequencies and room reflections, and none of these are helping your mix. Getting a handle on these problems has traditionally meant the installation of soft foam or fabrics, and that’s a great start. But now you can get even closer to a perfect room, and a perfect mix, because the future of studio sound is here, and it’s called ERGO.

HEAR THE DIFFERENCEKRK, long known for highly accurate studio monitors brings you ERGO (Enhanced Room Geometry Optimization). ERGO is an audio recording interface / room correction system designed to measure and analyze phase/frequency problems within a listening environment. The powerful digital signal processor in the ERGO unit processes audio to correct for the offending issues. So, you can stop worrying about your studio’s acoustics and start focusing on your mix! ERGO’s high-end sound quality makes it perfect for the discriminating audio professional, while the affordable price puts it within reach of the typical recording hobbyist. Every studio needs an ERGO, because even the most accurate monitor in an imperfect room isn’t going to solve mixing problems, but ERGO will. ERGO also makes your mix translate from the studio to different environments.

THE BEST APPROACHWhile many conventional room correction systems utilize simple analysis and limited bands of EQ (often fewer than 8), ERGO uses multiple measurements and proprietary algorithms to create a 3D image of the room, and then applies 1024 dynamic filters to control the audio environment. Our 3D model allows users to preserve the “good” characteristics of the room, while correcting the bad... ERGO doesn’t color the sound or produce an artificially sterile environment. ERGO produces the best mix for a given room; a mix that will translate better to other listening environments, since it was mixed in a “perfect” room.

ERGO

“Adding the ERGO to our setup has just further improved our experience with KRK by balancing our brand new studio without having to discover and correct our rooms flaws through trial and error. It also helps to untie us from the studio by enabling us to partially control any makeshift recording space we may end up in. I have a feeling that will be very useful with the amount of time we spend on the road.”

Manchester Orchestra

The sophisticated room analysis and correction system within ERGO, called “RoomPerfect” was developed by Lyngdorf Audio in Denmark after many years of R&D work. The patented algorithm in the system compares many measurements and corrects for phase and frequency problems using thousands of filters, not just a few. The result is the most accurate mix. ERGO, analyze this!

Lyngdorf Audio utilizes some of the best audio engineers in the world to develop superior technology. Lyngdorf Audio is the industry leader and cutting-edge digital audio company and we are proud to exclusively license their technology.

KRK monitors are used worldwide in small project studios and world-class mixing rooms. KRK’s are also found in numerous applications outside of recording, including broadcast, corporate facilities and video post production. Whether you are a producer, engineer, musician or broadcaster -- KRK has products that fit your style and your commitment to great sound.

The American Film Institute (AFI), founded in 1967, has been a quintessential force inspiring the exchange of ideas between the entertainment and technology communities, especially in terms of “digital media”. Intrinsic to “digital media” is high quality sound production, and this starts with quality monitoring systems. Recently, AFI equipped 15 of their Editing Suites with 15 pairs of KRK Systems’ VXT4 studio monitors after receiving a number of complaints from AFI Fellows about their previous speakers not translating from one environment to the next. Editing Fellows at the AFI Conservatory are responsible to post the sound on more than 80 films per year.

Currently riding a massive wave of millions of views on YouTube for the single “Tonight, Tonight,” the band Hot Chelle Rae is destined for star status. Peaking on the Billboard Hot 100 chart at number seven and now platinum “Tonight, Tonight,” offers bold, swaggering vocals, monster sing-along choruses, crunching rock guitar and a propulsive rhythm section that just won’t quit. For on-the-go band member Nash Overstreet (lead guitar/vocals), KRK VXT4s monitors save the day with accurate, portable reference monitoring for projects in any acoustic environment or situation. According to Overstreet, “Having an accurate mix/reference is crucial. Having monitors as small as the KRK VXT4s, which deliver great sound WHILE being small enough to set up as studio reference monitors in a hotel room, green room or back lounge of the bus is ideal.”

Daniel J. Levitin runs the Laboratory for Musical Perception, Cognition, and expertise at McGill University, where he holds the James McGill Chair and the Bell Chair in the Psychology of Electronic Communication. Before becoming a neuroscientist, he worked as a session musician, sounds engineer, and record producer with artists such as Stevie Wonder and Blue Öyster Cult. He has published extensively in scientific journals and music magazines such as Grammy and Billboard.

Talent, devotion and determination, you’ll find all three in Jacquire King. Born in Washington D.C., he knew by the age of 18 that recording and mixing music was the only thing he wanted to do. Now he’s worked in cities around the world and is a multiple Grammy-winning record producer and mix engineer working with some of the biggest names in music business. Most recently he shared in a 2009 Grammy Award for Record of the Year with producer Angelo Petraglia for the Kings of Leon’s “Use Somebody” from the band’s release Only By the Night. He’s also worked with Tom Waits, Modest Mouse, Mutemath, Cold War Kids, Norah Jones and Buddy Guy to name a few.

Over the past five years the Geffen Records Chairman has produced hits for Mary J. Blige, The Pussycat Dolls, The Black Eyed Peas, and Keyshia Cole listening exclusively to KRKs. Fair tells us, “KRKs are the benchmark for me. In production, in final mixes, in casual listening sessions: it all leads back to KRKs. I have brought them to mix rooms, mastering rooms and living rooms in order to establish that what I’m hearing — I’m hearing.” KRKs are refined, pristeen, and analytical, while at the same time kick serious ass, impress the hell out of artists, dazzle the promotion staff and deliver an unforgettable sonic impression.”

Sony Electronics, Inc. exhibits at key industry trade shows and events throughout the year. To best showcase its concepts, products and technologies to customers, Sony relies on KRK VXT8 powered monitors to provide accurate audio to properly demonstrate its latest products. In the past year, Sony has depended on the superb quality of the VXT8’s at the CEDIA, CinemaCon and NAB shows in its HD theater demonstration room for the SRX-R320 4K Digital Cinema Projector. Pristine performance is critical at these events because those in attendance are the most discerning engineers from their fields, influencing purchasing decisions. Accurate audio playback, sound quality, reliably and ruggedness of the KRK VXT8’s allows Sony to portray its products’ capabilities in the most positive light.

Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins has worked with some of the biggest names in the music industry including Britney Spears, Lady Gaga, Alicia Keys, Jennifer Lopez, and Beyonce to name a few. By the age of ten, “Darkchild” knew he wanted to be a producer and began landing garage-style production gigs. He entered a professional studio at the age of sixteen working with Patti LaBelle, and hasn’t looked back. In 1999, Jerkins won a Grammy with Destiny’s Child for “Say My Name”. He has produced music in a variety of genres, from hip-hop and dance to country and gospel, and was a producer and mentor on season 10 of American Idol.

Celebrating their 20th Anniversary this year, legendary R&B group Boyz II Men redefined and revolutionized the genre. The group has created some of the most celebrated songs and timeless classics of the past two decades, and stands as one of the last truly iconic bands in the business. Their 13 Grammy Awards are just the tip of the iceberg: throughout their 20-year career, Boyz II Men have also won a whopping 16 American Music Awards, 9 Soul Train Awards, 3 MTV Awards, 3 Billboard Awards, and a long-awaited 2012 star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Composed of Nate Morris, Wanya Morris, and Shawn Stockman, Boyz II Men remains the best-selling R&B group of all time, with an astounding 64 million albums sold. And for Boyz II Men the hits just keep on coming—the group will release an exclusive 20th Anniversary Album and continues to tour across the world.

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS

KRK Systems uses state of the art tools to design and test its products. Additional technical information can be found in the product datasheets at www.krksys.com (Support/Product Documentation). Passion for audio is intrinsic in our culture and pushing the levels of performance each time we develop a new product is what drives our team.
