ACKNOWLEDGEMENT Working as a Ph.D. student in Department of Industrial Chemistry was a magnificent as well as challenging experience for me. In all these years, I was exposed to many people who directly or indirectly were responsible in shaping up my academic career. It was hardly possible for me to thrive in my doctoral work without the precious support of these personalities. Here is a small tribute to all these people. First of all, I would like to express my deep and sincere gratitude to my guide Prof. (Dr.) S. D. Toliwal, Department of Oils, Fats & Waxes (Industrial Chemistry), Institute of Science and Technology for Advance Studies and Research (ISTAR), Sardar Patel University. His wide knowledge and his logical way of thinking have been of great value for me. His understanding, encouragement and personal guidance have provided a good platform for the present thesis. I wish to express my warm and sincere thanks to Prof. (Dr.) V.S.Patel, Director of Sophisticated Instrumentation Centre for Applied Research and Testing (SICART) for his watchful, intimate, keen monitoring and supervision during the entire work related to making of this thesis detailed and constructive comments and their important support throughout the work. I wish to express my warm and sincere thanks to Dr. Akshay Gupte and Miss. Anjum Banu (N.V. Patel college of Pure and Applied Science, Sardar Patel University) for their detailed and constructive comments and his important support through out the work. I owe my most sincere gratitude to Dr. B.K.De, Dr. Sibban Singh, Dr.A.K.Dighe, Dr. Merlin Thomas, Dr. Jigar Patel, Dr.Tejas Pavagadhi, Dr. Kalpesh Patel and Dr. Chintan Patel (Department of Industrial Chemistry, Institute of Science and Technology for Advance Studies and Research (ISTAR), Sardar Patel University) who gave me untiring help during my difficult moments. Their kind support and guidance have been of great value in this study. My special Thanks to Late Prof. (Dr.) M. N. Desai and Prof (Dr.) Nisha. K. Shah, professor (Department of Chemistry School of Sciences, Gujarat University) for their valuable inspirational, suggestions and helping me in solving the problems encountered during the corrosion study. I am very obliged to Dr. Arvnabh Mishra, Lecturer (Ashok & Rita Patel Institute of Studies in Biotechnology and Allied Sciences (ARIBAS), Sardar Patel University) for their valuable ideas and suggestions. I would also like to take an opportunity to express my gratitude to Dr.(Mrs.) Shobha S. Toliwal for her moral support.
