Located in the heart of Manhattan, The New Yorker is surrounded by New York City landmarks including Macy’s, Madison Square Garden, Penn Station and the Broadway Theatre district. Enjoy the amazing shopping, restaurants, sights and sounds of this dynamic, exciting neighborhood. The New Yorker is conveniently located between all mass transit subway lines and the Port Authority Bus Station. Most importantly, the residence is only a short distance from any Kaplan school in New York. The New Yorker is located within walking distance of the Empire State school, and approximately 25 minutes by public transportation of the Kaplan school in SoHo.

The New Yorker offers students well located accommodation with excellent amenities including 24-hour security, gym, laundry, kitchen, game rooms, study areas, air conditioning and free domestic phone calls!

Type of accommodationThe New Yorker residence offers single and twin rooms in a university dormitory style environment.

MealsThe dormitory accommodation option includes no meals. There is a beautiful, state-of-the-art kitchen available for student use as well as a 24-hour diner in the residence. Kaplan students receive a discount for meals at the diner.

KitchenStudents have use of a communal kitchen equipped with basic appliances to prepare their own meals. Refrigerators are in each of the student rooms. No cookware or kitchen utensils are provided.

RoomsAll of the rooms are fully furnished, have flat screen TV with premium channels, wifi, and air conditioning.

Student loungeThe residence has a comfortable student common room - ideal for socializing and practicing English!

LaundryThere are laundry rooms available throughout the residence. All washers and dryers are card operated.

BathroomsAll of the rooms have full en suite bathroom facilities. Students must provide their own toiletries (including toilet paper).

UtilitiesElectricity, gas and water are included in the accommodation fee. Electrical current is 110/120 volts and students from some countries may require a transformer and a plug adapter. It is recommended students use only US bought appliances.

Internet and phoneEach room has its own phone and wireless internet access. Wireless internet access is also available in the lounge area. Unlimited domestic calling is included, however, a calling card will be needed for international calls.

Security and keysThere is 24 hour a day, 7 day a week security and fire safety. There will be someone at the front entrance at all times as well as security cameras throughout the building. All rooms will be key card accessible. There are also live-in staff called 'RAs' (Residence Assistants).

Linens and towelsBed linens are provided for guests. Students must bring their own towels. Students are responsible for washing their own linen.

VisitorsVisitors are allowed during the day. Overnight visitors must be arranged in advance. The maximum stay for any one guest is one week.

Noise and restrictionsStudents are requested to be considerate to their neighbors and keep noise levels to a minimum especially after 10:00pm.

AvailabilityThe New Yorker is available to students age 17+ year round. Please check availability with your Kaplan representative.

DepositCredit card information will be taken upon arrival. Charges will be made if there is damage, loss, a smoking violation or extra cleaning to be paid for on the student’s departure.

Check-in and Check-outCheck-in time is Saturday between 3:00pm and 10:00pm. Check-out time is Saturday at 10:00am. Please go to the Information Desk in the lobby for check-in assistance.
