Student representation and societies The Guild is there for every student at the University of Exeter – to support them, represent them and to provide the best university experience possible. The Students’ Guild is a democratic organisation, which means that whenever any important changes are made, the final decision comes down to the students and their elected representatives (called Sabbs). We have two restaurants, a bar and a nightclub, all on campus. The profits from these venues go back into the Guild and our various services, which means that the money our students spend in our outlets goes directly into improving the quality of their time here. The Guild also provides over 190 different societies to join on campus. However, if you still can’t find one that interests you, you can always apply to set up a new one. If you’re interested in volunteer work, then the Guild can help you be part of some amazing student projects at Exeter. Our volunteer groups, Raising and Giving (RAG) and Community Action (CA), do great work raising money and working on community projects, and are always looking for more volunteers! Every year, through the Guild, students also have the chance to become academic representatives, elected by their peers to represent them within their subject field. They make sure that any student feedback on the academic experience at Exeter is being heard. If you’re looking for help while at Exeter, our Advice Unit provides free, friendly advice on all sorts of issues. What’s more, they will always point you in the direction of the right contact if you require any expert advice that they are unable to offer. The Guild is led by its students, which means that we always want to listen to your feedback. ‘Have Your Say’ provides a forum for comments, criticisms and discussion on the issues that matter most to the student body, and allows students to lead on decisions and enact real changes in what the Students’ Guild does. Our Guild shop sells University of Exeter merchandise and clothing, confectionery, drinks and sandwiches, as well as an extensive range of newspapers and magazines. Most universities will have a student union/guild. This leaflet gives you an idea of what they can offer.

The Guild is there for every student at the University of Exeter – to support them, represent them and to provide the best university experience possible.

Students’ Guild venues

Serving everything from hot drinks, wraps, bagels and cakes, to soup, burgers, pasta, pies and mash, the Kitchen Deli is the perfect place to refuel between lectures, no matter what time of the day it is.

More of a proper restaurant, here you can find a whole variety of dishes perfect for breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as sharing platters you can catch up with your friends over.

Our student pub boasts its own speciality beer and cider, as well as a great pub menu. During term-time they screen sports, run a karaoke night, as well as host pub quizzes and regular society socials.

This is your student nightclub. Many of our live music gigs are played here, and parts of the venue are available to hire out for society events. With hundreds of students filling the venue, one of the biggest nights of the week is on every Saturday at the Lemmy – and it’s on campus so you don’t have to go too far.
