Washburn continúa estableciendo pautas y dando ejemplo de lo que es una educación de
vanguardia que impacta todas áreas del desarrollo de nuestros estudiantes. La participación
activa en actividades es una herramienta poderosa que complementa y forjan el desarrollo
académico, cognitivo y social-emocional de todo ser humano. Estas actividades transforman el
proceso educativo en uno ameno que fomenta el liderazgo, la exploración y despliegue de
talentos y a la vez el desarrollo de una autoestima elevada que los ayudará a que den el máximo
resultando en huellas fructíferas en su futuro.
Reconocemos el compromiso de un equipo de trabajo de excelencia que pudo ser demostrado en
actividades como “ Talent Show”, Mini Torneo de Baloncesto, Parada de los “ Super Heroes”,
Dia del Estudiante del Mes, “ Book Fair”, y “ Kite Day”.
Para la próxima semana Washburn estará desarrollando las siguientes actividades:
19-23 de marzo – Semana de la Lengua Española, (deletreo, lectura, teatro de títeres,
dramatización, oratoria, escritura de cuentos, caligrafía, escritura de poemas, etc.)
21 de marzo – Student of the Month
Nuestras felicitaciones a los padres y familiares que dieron todo el apoyo, y se convirtieron en
parte del equipo de Washburn en todas las actividades antes señaladas.
Nota Importante:
Paso a comunicarles que desde el próximo 16 de abril no estaré con ustedes. La Sra. Rosa
Figueroa me estará sustituyendo como Directora Académica. La Sra. Figueroa comenzó el 5 de
marzo a hacer la transición, es una persona altamente cualificada por lo que sé que Washburn
queda en buenas manos.

Saludos padres, madres y estudiantes:
Agradecemos su asistencia a nuestro “Parents and Teachers Conference” el pasado viernes.
Siempre es un placer recibirles y velar por el bienestar de sus hijos. Durante esta semana
estaremos trabajando en el seguimiento a sus observaciones.
En nivel elemental, continuaremos asistiendo a los estudiantes en el proceso de modificación de
conducta, sin perder de perspectiva las características típicas de la etapa de la niñez (6-12 años):
- El contacto con otros niños influye en su proceso de socialización y en la adquisición de
capacidades de relación con otros seres humanos.
- El niño desarrolla capacidades cognoscitivas como la percepción, memoria y el razonamiento.
- En esta etapa también se adquieren el sentido del deber, el respeto al derecho ajeno, el amor
propio entre otras capacidades.
- También se desarrolla su pensamiento lógico y su capacidad de distinguir entre realidad e
imaginación.
En nivel secundario, continuaremos fomentando la empatía, el respeto y el compromiso entre los
estudiantes.
Le recordamos además que continuamos con la venta de camisetas del evento Relevo por la
Vida de la Sociedad Americana contra el Cáncer de Puerto Rico.

Estimados padres:
Reciban un cordial saludo de mi parte. Del 19 al 23 de marzo celebraremos la
semana de español en Washburn y este año mi enfoque va dirigido a la lectura y
comprensión. A continuación les incluyo las actividades que trabajaremos durante
esta semana en los tres grupos y espero que sean del agrado y disfrute de mis
estudiantes.
Pre Kínder y Kínder
El lunes, 19 de marzo será la competencia de lectura de lámina (“picture bee”) y
del martes, 20 de marzo al jueves, 23 de marzo trabajaremos con el cuento La
Oruga Muy Hambrienta de Eric Carle varias actividades integradas con otras
materias. Algunos de los temas que trabajaremos son: los colores, las frutas, los
números, los días de la semana, el ciclo de vida de una mariposa, etc.
El viernes, 23 de marzo cerraremos la semana con el audio cuento El Monstruo de
Colores que trata sobre las emociones y lo que experimentamos con cada una de
ellas.
Primer Grado
Lunes – Competencia de orden alfabético – todos participan
Martes – Competencia de lectura por minuto – todos participan
Miércoles – Competencia de deletreo – participarán los estudiantes interesados (En
la libreta de español hay una notificación a los padres de los estudiantes que
quieren participar en esta competencia.)
Jueves y viernes – Cierre de la semana con la lectura y comprensión del cuento La
Oruga Muy Hambrienta de Eric Carle.
*Sujeto a cambios dependiendo de la necesidad de los estudiantes y el tiempo que pueda tomarles
dominar una destreza.
