APA Community Messages from the HoY

Year 7 - Miss CameronYear 7,

Well done for your hard work this week. I have to particularly congratulate Mr Hayden’s PE group for their trampoline work and Mr Neuberger’s maths group for their estimating angles competition. Also to Ms McMillan’s French class for being focussed in their lab work, excellent dedication to the commitment pillar. Well done to everyone on rewards trips today, and HAPPY RED NOSE DAY!

Year 8 - Miss BinghamStar of the week – Asifa Ahmed for getting lots of commitment and effort points throughout the week, keep it up!

With one more week to go until Easter it is important that we fully engage with the new topics in all our lessons so we give ourselves the best chance of continuing our progress into our last term of year 8. I hope you all have a great time raising money for comic relief and that the competition for form groups to raise the most money is won by one of the year 8 forms.

Year 9 - Ms Harvey Congratulations to the following students who still have 100%! You will be in for an opportunity to be rewarded in our prize giving assembly next week!

Year 10 - Miss McMillan Year 10,

What a wonderful term it has been. We have seen fantastic performances from Glee club, participation in STEM and other workshops and contribution to Assembly. As a Year group you are growing into responsible young adults but there is still a bit of work to do. You will be receiving your results in the post, so over Easter it is time for you to reflect and think about the improvements you can make in the Summer term.

Congratulations to those of you I spoke to in Assembly with 100% attendance and those of you who have done some fantastic things this term.

Finally, over the holidays I would like you to relax, spend time with family and friends and sleep.

I look forward to seeing you after the holidays,

Miss McMillan

Year 11 - Miss Lake Year 11,

Well done to the BTEC sport students who did a great coaching session with primary schools yesterday as part of their assessment, the students you worked with thoroughly enjoyed it and it reflects your hard work paying off. I don’t know if I’ve mentioned this to you very much over the last few weeks, but YOUR EXAMS ARE IMMINENT! These next few weeks could make all the difference in the outcomes available to you in September. Ask your teachers for help with topics you struggle on, go to intervention classes for your weaker subjects, put down your phone, pick up your books and apply yourself. Its not too late to make all the difference.

Don’t forget! The tutor with the BEST attendance next half term will receive a rewards pizza afternoon! Work as a team, encourage each other and get into school!Big upMs Young’s Drama class- your performances were excellent! Especially- Deacon, Manni, T’Leah and Rudy.

Also well done to the Year 9 football team for excellent teamwork and community!

APA Community France Trip Report by Lea Vilensone

The very first thing we did was leave school and head to Eurotunnel, which would take us to France. First thing we did in France was go to Cité Europe, however we could not spend a lot of time in there, so it wasn’t great for the girls as we could not spend time in Sephora as much as we wanted!Next stop was our first hotel, it was very beautiful and it had amazing food, as well as amazing desserts. We did not see much more that day as it was already late and we needed to go to sleep as the next day was full of adventures.Next morning we all woke up excitedly and ate breakfast as we were eager to go to Disneyland. I think I was the most excited as it was my first time in Disneyland, but I had two Disneyland experts with me, Victoria and Augustina, who were my mentors throughout Disney. Disney was one of the best days in my life, I never actually thought Disneyland was amazing until I actually experienced it. It was magical, fulfilling and life changing. Once we got there we never wanted to leave. Victoria almost cried that we had to leave Disney.Furthermore, that day we were also supposed to see a football match however the match was postponed last minute as it was recorded live for TV on the following Monday so it didn’t work out. So instead once we got to our second hotel we unpacked and then went straight for dinner. After that we went to a bowling place and played Laser Tag. Laser Tag was so fun, the girls beat the boys because obviously we were better than them. 34,000 points to 8,000 points, pretty obvious we beat them a mile off (thanks to Augustina and Ms Blundell). The following day we woke up at 7:30, ate breakfast and some of us went to a fancy chocolate shop. I bought macaroons because they are my favourite. They were extremely delicious, so much better than the macaroons we have here in England. After we went to a football club and saw the stadium as well as hearing interesting things about it. We had lunch in a typical French gastronomic restaurant and tried snails.Following on we then went to our school football match against the town team. I’m not really into football but as soon as our school started to playing I was out of my seat cheering for them. Sadly we didn’t win but it was such a fun experience and I had fun. It wasn’t really about who wins, it was about having fun.The last day was sad for us, we all wanted to stay in France and never go back to England. But I was homesick after all and did want to see my family again, so in conclusion I had the time of my life in France and definitely want to go back there a million times.
