Labs• IT Services Labs

– Project to improve the physical appearance of the lab, O/S upgrades

– Machines are upgraded on a 4-year basis

– 8 Sunrays were added last year

– Student Consultants support Leddy Library, Assumption University

– Lab ratio is 12.2 students/PC (Sept. 2003 11.3–1; Sept. 2002 10.8-1)• There are 1132 PC/Macs/Unix w/s on

campus

Labs• Central Support

– Maintain central server (file-sharing & printing), offer consulting for all labs, many lab setups, assist with problem resolution

• Printing– Charging System– Co-ordination with Single-Card system?

Laptop Support• Laptop usage has exploded in the

last year

• Network Offerings

– Public Network (hard-wired)

– Wireless Pilot (which will be expanding)

Software Support

• Virus Protection is available for students on campus

• Software Depot will provide the infrastructure to offer more software to the campus & students.

Student E-Mail Improvements• ~14,750 accounts• 400-500 users logged on simultaneously at peak times• Over the last two weeks 9,210 students have logged into

their account.

Student E-Mail Improvements• Spam Filter• Upgraded the interface, added web serving• More disk space – 20 Meg

Student Dial-in system• 44 modems available• Usage decreased dramatically over the

last couple of years.• rates remain at $0.40/hour

UWin password• Have worked actively with CFL to resolve

all ViCKi issues in as timely a manner as possible
