Idea, process, calculation, marketing

• The idea came thru school’s development manager, who suggested of participating in a local workshop that makes different products of reuseable materials.

• We took the course with 25 persons, each making 2 tablemats out of old fleece and felt. Design ideas were chosen individually.

• The cost of one product without any extras was calculated €1.80, but some outcomes were in a smaller size than expected.

• Before marketing the products were decided to sell at a price of € 3.- (bigger products) and € 1.50 (smaller tablemats).

• The products were sold at local markets, students trading under teachers’ supervision.

• Costs for transportation and wrapping materials were calculated and then subtracted off the profit.

Problems

• Not everyone is keen on getting things done nor being creative.

• Materials were of poor amount, thus the sizes of tablemats varied.

• Making products out of fleece ribbons took quite some time, impatience occurred.

• Planning an event might be harder than expected – time, place and activities are not always easy to choose (different expectations).

Idea, process, calculation, marketing• Idea – we wanted to take a trip to old school

house. We did two activities together. We called two people in there who did a workshop for children.

• We took the course with 24 persons, each making 2 pictures frames. We used old ice cream sticks.

• One frame cost 1,9 euros. • Before marketing the products were decided to

sell at a price of € 2 euros. • The products were sold at local markets, students

trading under teachers’ supervision.

Page 14: Student Business Jüri Gymnasium

The aims of these projects. Problems and results. • Student learn how to make business plan. • Students learned how to use the stuff again.• They learned that all activities should always be

done carefully and accurately. It does not matter whether you've made the product goes on sale or not.

• Children enjoyed the hike, liked that art lessons was at an other place.

• They liked when 7th grade students came and played games with them.

• The main problem – me and children did dot want to work with money. But we were are happy, that business can be charity.

Idea, process, calculation, marketing• Idea – Was to make wooden things to the fare. We

wanted to show how good we are making wooden toys with our hands.

• The students made everything by themselves. We made „SOMA“ cubes and wood dices. Our products didn’t cost anything beacause we made them out of furniture factory remains.

• Because we didn’t pay for the materials, then we wanted to sell them quite cheaply. „SOMA“ cost 4 euros and dices (2) cost 2 euros.

• The products were sold at local markets, students trading under teachers’ supervision. We sold all the „SOMA“ cubes and most of the dices.

The aims of these projects. Problems and results. • Students liked to do things with their hands.• They were very keen to think about the materials

and think about the prices which to sell and which price is fair.

• I, as a teacher, am happy because they did the things professionally and the outcome was very good.

• The students liked also the selling part. It was real marketing. They were there with younger students side by side. It teaches them tolerance.

• We had no problems and the result in my opinion was very good.
