UK Recruitment and Outreach aims– To attract suitably qualified students from
non-traditional backgrounds with the potential to succeed, who may not be considering higher education or Southampton, to the University of Southampton
– To raise the profile of the University of Southampton amongst prospective students, their parents, teachers and careers advisors in order to increase applications from high achieving students
Ambassador roles
The Student Ambassador role we have recruited for is:
1. General Student Ambassador
this roles covers supporting a variety of events on and off campus e.g. taster days, assemblies, workshops HE/Careers Fairs, Open Days, campus tours and mentoring opportunities on programmes such as the Southampton Junior University scheme.
Ambassador roles
How does the programme work?
• Training for the various roles
• Recruitment and Outreach Team will process CRB checks (overseas students will also need letters of good conduct)
• Members of the Recruitment and Outreach Team will contact you via email regarding work through the email list
• You decide if you can attend and get back to us
• Attend event, normally with another ambassador, or with a member of staff
• Get paid an hourly rate
• We will arrange transport or reimburse your costs (keep any tickets or receipts)
Graduate Passport
• A points-based achievement record that recognises and rewards students for activities carried out in addition to the course.
• Being a Student Ambassador gains you 15 points and the potential to gain more by taking part in various activities

Remember to set aside time for
• Your attendance at lectures, seminars, workshops and placements
• Supporting work that needs to be done in your own time, bearing in mind hand-in dates
• Paid employment and any volunteer commitments you have made
• Relaxation
• Sleep!
