GENERAL GUIDELINES

ELIGIBILITY• All applicants must be a current student at a local public or private school for the

2019/2020 school year.

• One entry per student

ENTRY FOR SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS• Signed and completed entry form

• Delivered to Masterworks in the Botanical Gardens by the Submission Deadline below.

CRITERIA: • Original in concept, design and execution

• Labeled with artwork title, student’s name, school name, grade and email address.

• Must remain hung in the gallery for the duration of the show

• Artist agrees to donate the piece to Mirrors at the conclusion of the exhibition

JUDGING CRITERIA:

Artwork will be judged by a panel of three judges. All submissions will be grouped and judged by school level group (primary, middle and school level). They will be assessed in terms of artistic merit, creativity, and effective communication of the theme through the artwork and prizes giving accordingly. The following judging criteria will be used:

• Does the submitted artwork fit the theme of the competition

• Is there a creative interpretation of the theme?

• Is the originality of the work interesting?

• Is there overall quality and command of the medium being used?

• Is there overall quality and complexity/level of digital technology used? (digital only)

• Does the work impact the viewer in relationship to the theme?

• Does the work stand on its own as a complete and outstanding creative image?

• Design and composition of the artwork.

ArtworkEntry Requirements & Prizes

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS Submission on behalf of an individual entrant (no groups)

Submissions should be in one of the following mediums: painting, drawing, pastel or collage

No larger than 11 x 17 inches

Works on paper must be mounted on card backing.

Artwork must be labelled as follows:

• On the front at the bottom right hand corner with

• On the back with the cut out attached to this form

DIGITALEntry Requirements & Prizes

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS May be submitted on behalf of an individual or a group

90 seconds in length

Includes a label on the front of the disc AND a credit slide (not included in 90sec limit) at the end stating:

Playable on DVD

Please submit the master copy and make a copy for yourself. The master will not be returned to you.
