The event was led by Chairman Eugenio “Toto” Villareal, together with the Committee on Film Infomercial chairperson, Board Member Milo M. Sogueco. It was attended by different cinema operators and organizations such as Ayala Malls Cinema, Cinema 200, Lucky China Town Cinema, Greenhills Theater Mall, Newport Cinema, Robinsons Movie- world, Power Plant Cinema, Sta., Lucia East Cinema, Gateway Cineplex, SM Cinemas, and the National Cinema Association of the Philippines (NCAP), members of the media, and MTRCB Board Members. Similar to the TV ratings infomercial that was launched last year (starring the family of Carmina Villaroel and Zoren Legaspi), the infomercial aims to educate the public on the proper appreciation and understanding of the different film ratings of the Board, especially the new Restricted-16 (R-16). The “Parental Guidance” rating was also simplified from “PG-13” to “PG”, in an effort to avoid confusion with “R-13.” “PG” means that no child below thirteen (13) years old will be allowed into a cinema unless accompanied by a parent or responsible adult. Aside from the launching, Board Member Atty. Noel Del Prado discussed and presented the color-coded film ratings advisory. He discussed the guidelines on the display and exhibition of the standard- ized film advisory poster and standee. To conclude the program, a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) was signed by and among the MTRCB and theater officers/ representatives and organization to signify support for the public exhibition of the info- mercial, particularly during trailer gaps, in every cinema. MTRCB Joins the Feast Day of Saint Josemaria Escriva As MTRCB Board Member Mario Hernando says, “Äll work and no spiritual activity make Juan’s soul empty.” Chairman Eugenio “Toto” Villareal together with some MTRCB Board Members thus joined the Solemn Eucharistic Celebration in honor of Saint Josemaria Escriva, founder of Opus Dei at St. Therese of the Child Jesus Shrine in Pasay City. This was upon the formal invitation by the Regional Vicar of Opus Dei, Rev. Fr. Carlos Estrada, for MTRCB to grace the celebration. The Holy Eucharist was led by Archbishop Luis Antonio G. Cardinal Tagle. In his homily, Archbishop Tagle described the life of Saint Josemaria Escriva as a work of love. His love for his work and for the people are a manifestation of his love to God. Just like Saint Josemaria, Archbishop Tagle stressed the importance of loving one’s work and passion, and to share this with other people.
