PEOPLE Mission Statement: To equip the leadership of the church throughout the country of Uganda and to lovingly serve & disciple our local communities.

Methodology: SOS is seeking to establish a sustainable & long-term approach by improving the governance capabilities of the Ugandan people. This is done by training & equipping Ugandan Nationals to be the catalysts for change and development in their society. It is for this reason that the majority of our staff in Uganda is comprised of nationals. SOS currently employs 35 national staff.

The goal of the Church Strengthening Ministry is to equip churches and church leaders to effectively, lovingly, and biblically strengthen their church members and communities.

SOS works closely with like-minded Christian denominations to provide guidance & leadership in the biblical function of the church with current efforts including work with Baptist Union of Uganda, the Baptist Convention of Kenya, and the All Africa Baptist Fellowship.

National Training ConferencesSOS brings Biblical Training to each region of Uganda through strategically located National Conferences, including six regional pastor’s conferences, a National Youth Conference, and a National Women’s Conference.

The conference ministry provides an opportunity for individuals to be trained in the essentials of the biblical evangelical faith, while at the same time enhancing their spiritual growth and vibrancy.

Pastoral CareSOS has a unique approach to biblical training combining a love for God’s Word with a practical love for His people. We regularly visit pastors throughout each region of Uganda, encouraging, challenging, and modeling a shepherd’s love for the people by consistently showing love for the pastors and their churches.

Bible Training CenterWe are planning to begin this next phase of our ministry which will prepare men to be God-honoring pastors, teachers, and leaders within their local churches. This full-time, on-campus Bible training program will equip pastors to be spiritually, educationally, socially, and professionally prepared for a life of full-time service as Caretaker’s of God’s church.

The goal of the Community Outreach Ministry is to demonstrate the gospel of Jesus Christ to the communities around Kubamitwe by lovingly serving & empowering them to be God-fearing, self-sustaining citizens.SOS seeks to use a whole-of-life approach. Experience has shown that helping a third-world community become stable involves all aspects of life (physical, emotional, and spiritual) and all groups of people (men & women; boys & girls; local & church leaders). Providing assistance in one area or to only one group of people, while ignoring others, won’t produce lasting results.

Community Strengthening & DevelopmentThis ministry seeks to reach out into the community through social activities, development meetings, organized sports, women’s & men’s training days, and environment enhancement programs. SOS staff provides discipleship, counseling & crisis intervention.

Community Health & WelfareWe seek to exemplify a Christ-like response to those who are suffering desperate circumstances. With the nearest public clinic over 45 minutes away, we provide critical emergency medical care & transportation. SOS also provides non-urgent care & training such as AIDS awareness, dental, hygiene, sanitation, agriculture, and nutrition training.

Education & Life-Skills TrainingOur goal is to empower the people of Kubamitwe toward personal advancement. We’re committed to the educational training of our national staff, to better equip them personally and in their ministry with SOS. We also sponsor the education of 20 young adults. SOS has just launched the first phase of its primary school, Legacy Christian Academy. Future phases include additional

school buildings for a secondary school. If you are interested in sponsoring a child at Legacy Christian Academy or a mature student, contact us!
