IMS Virtualization Environments for application development and testing.(Streamline IMS application development and testing)

COPE enables multiple IMS environments on “One” IMS physical system. Rapidly deploys isolated IMS environments. COPE has IMS full functional capabilities Rebalancing of Resources Supports DB2, MQ, DRD No CPU upgrade fees

Reduces overhead by minimizing the workload:

Example: Customer can manage 150 COPE logical environments with “One” DBA and “One” part time systems programmer.

COPE for IMS significantly reduces hardware utilization and hardware and software upgrades for multiple IMS database development and test systems. This contributes to lower data center costs of operation. COPE also empowers organizations to deploy their IMS resources faster. This speeds up delivery of IMS resources and significantly reduces the number of hours spent and the time of IMS staff spent, on IMS deployment for application development and test. COPE does this with a database resource virtualization software that an application developer or tester can run as needed for the purpose of generating a virtual IMS database environment for an application.

COPE for DBCTL combines multiple database control (DBCTL) regions that provide IMS data management for online CICS transaction systems into a single physical system. This ability to consolidate multiple DBCTL systems under a single system reduces hardware and software resource consumption for both DBCTL and any database recovery control (DBRC) and DL/1 separate address spaces (DLISAS) associated with DBCTL. The end result is an economical use of hardware and software resources that is particularly relevant in data center environments where multiple DBCTL systems that COPE consolidates into a single physical system are multi-purposed on demand for application development, testing, training, system integration and quality assurance.

COPE for DCCTL significantly reduces hardware utilization and hardware and software upgrades for multiple IMS database development and test systems without the use of IMS DB. This contributes to lower data center costs of operation. COPE also empowers organizations to deploy their IMS resources faster. This speeds up delivery of IMS resources and significantly reduces the number of hours spent and the time of IMS staff spent, on IMS deployment for application development and test.

A look at cost savings in actual practiceFor BCBSSC, COPE has delivered cost savings in the data center and time to market savings in the development, testing and deployment of applications. This is important not only for BCBSBC itself, but for the outside clients who also depend upon its claims processing applications. Another area in which COPE has delivered value is in its seamlessness. “Because the system is so seamless, consistent and reliable, it can almost become a non-issue for us because it seldom presents a problem,” said Barnes. “No one has to trouble shoot COPE much, and best of all, there are no phone calls!”
