Strategic Prayer Points for the City

These points are a guideline only…allow space for the Holy Spirit to guide the prayer focus as you pray through them.

Consider the first part of the Lord’s Prayer: Pray:

• For His name to be honoured and esteemed in our city as it is in Heaven. • For His Kingdom to come in the Gold Coast as it is in Heaven. … That the

values of the kingdom …forgiveness, humility, servant-hood, compassion, justice will more and more permeate life in our city

• For His will to be done in the Gold Coast as it is in Heaven … For His church to be obedient to His promptings …for His wisdom to shape council decisions …for His word to find a place in the hearts of the people of the city.

Exhortation: 1 Chronicles 19:13- "Be strong, and let us fight bravely for our people and the cities of our God. The Lord will do what is good in His sight"

Arts and Entertainment: Planning is underway for an Exhibition of Christian Art under the theme Lift him Up during the Commonwealth Games. As we push into this, hidden gems in the way of Artists and Musicians have been linking together.

• Pray that in the planning God goes ahead of our organizing team, opening the doors for live art, flash-mobs and music in the public square.

• Pray for the hidden gems to emerge in the City, those that reflect the Lord’s heart of love and unity and whose work speaks to the heart.

• Pray that hearts of the people (both visitors and city residents) are soft and open to respond to the Lord’s message as they display and perform.

Answers to Prayer Arts and Entertainment: There have been significant breakthroughs as we have been praying into this:

• We have permission for a flash mob at Australia Fair and possibly other centres.

• YWAM with local musicians and artists have favour to be involved in the community celebration activities in Southport and Surfer’s Paradise, Jack Evans Boat Harbour and at the Strand Cooly.

• Plans have been approved for the Lift Him Up Art Exhibition to display at the Robina Community Centre, Transit Centre and Ganggalah Training Centre during the Games.

Security: Pray that all security threats will be exposed and covered by our security and service personnel and that there are no holes in the security cover.

Transport and Traffic: The estimate is that there will be 690,000 visitors to the Coast for the Games.

Strategic Prayer Points for the City

• Pray: The new trains need to be in service with no faults over the games period and that Our Trams and buses perform well.

• Our M1 needs to be protected from accidents that will disrupt the flow. • Release God’s blessing, wisdom etc over those responsible for traffic

planning and pray for efficient and smooth traffic movement.

Opportunities for Church Engagement with the Games will be outlined at the Beyond Gold Expo at Southport Church of Christ Tuesday 30th January 7:00pm … These include:

• Homestay Program • Evangelism • Children’s holiday Programs • Easter United Easter Celebration • Community Festivals • Prayer … At strategic locations / Queen’s Baton Prayer Watch / Go for Glory

worship and prayer during the Games. • Sports and Community Chaplains • Social Justice

Pray for the church at large to catch hold of the part each of us is called to play under the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

Social Justice • Pray: For the those in churches struggling with addiction to have the courage

to bring their struggle into the light, for shame to be overcome and wise counsel from leaders and the empowering of the Holy Spirit to enable freedom from bondage.

• Pray that as meetings take place looking at a strategic collaborative approach to deal with issues of Domestic Violence, Pornography and Sex Trafficking that the wisdom of God and His heart for those in bondage will govern the strategy forward.

Easter Celebration: Easter Sunday 4:30pm -7:30pm At the new outdoor Amphitheatre … 135 Bundall Rd

• Pray for wisdom and favour over our project manager Jordan Meade, and the many logistical details that need to be sorted for this event to be a dynamic expression of the unity of the church of the Gold Coast and a significant lifting up of Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour over our city and over the games.
