Strapped for Life’s inaugural 5K is a

success

Strapped for Life held its inaugural 5K on April 5 at

Fair Park in Dallas, Texas. The event had a large turnout and proved to be quite successful for the young nonprofit.

Strapped for Life is a nonprofit founded in July 2013. Its mission is to promote safe driving through the proper use of seat belts among young adults in the Dallas area by offering grief counseling, information and incentives.

The Strapped for Life inaugural 5K was held to promote seat belt safety among young adults. Participants were encouraged to walk or run to honor those who lost their lives due to the improper use of seat belts.

More than 1,000 participants came out to raise awareness for the organization. Strapped for Life raised $20,058 from the 5K.

Donations came from businesses and private donors. Donations help fund grief counseling and buy small trinkets to serve as a reminder to buckle up.

Chelsea Roth, Strapped for Life president, was excited by the success of the organization’s first event.

“I’m so happy to see that Strapped for Life is getting attention and coverage,” Roth said. “Strapped for Life has such a great message that I hope gets out to all the young adults in America. I hope this walk has motivated people to take the extra five seconds to buckle up.”

Mike Rawlings, Dallas mayor, is excited to see an organization take a stand against unsafe driving in the local community.

“Car accidents happen every day in Dallas,” Rawlings said. “Too many young adults are dying because of a stupid mistake. It’s great that Dallas finally has an organization that does something to help motivate our young drivers to drive safer.”

Strapped for Life hopes to keep raising awareness for safe driving throughout the year and see an even larger turnout at next year’s 5K.

Thank you for helping Strapped for Life grow and become the success

it has been. I’ve put my heart and soul into this organization, and I’m so happy to see how it has grown over the past nine months.

In July 2013, I was in an awful car accident that should have taken my life. I lost control of my car after trying to avoid a truck coming into my lane without looking. After colliding with the concrete wall lining the busy Dallas highway, I spun out several times. Once it was all over, I spent the rest of the day going through countless tests in a trauma ER room downtown. I know I would not be alive today if it weren’t for my seat belt. I want to help save as many people as I can through services and products provided by Strapped for Life. Not wearing a seat belt is such a silly mistake to lose your life over.

Strapped for Life’s mission is to promote safe driving through the proper use of seat belts among young adults in the Dallas area by offering grief counseling, information and incentives.

Volunteers have played a huge role in Strapped for Life’s success. Our volunteers made our inaugural 5K a success by helping with registration, refreshments and more. We are always looking for more help. Visit our website to learn how you can help.

Strapped for Life has been able to help more than 50 young adults through grief counseling. We also continue to serve the general population through educational materials and incentives. Donations help fund counseling and buy trinkets to serve as a reminder to buckle up.

We hope to continue to raise awareness, recruit more volunteers and raise funds for continued growth. Please help us beat the statistics. Live for the ride.

Volunteer with Strapped for Life

Strapped for Life credits its success to the help of volunteers. Nonprofits like Strapped for Life rely heavily on the help of volunteers. They play an important role in the success of an organization.

Volunteers are always needed, and they can help in many ways. Strapped for Life needs volunteers to help organize research and compile educational tools. Anyone can always volunteer his or her time to help plan and promote the annual Strapped for Life 5K. Grief counselors can volunteer their time to help those suffering with the loss of a loved one due to a car accident. Volunteers are also needed at the annual 5K to assist with refreshments, registration and cleanup. Businesses can help by sponsoring the annual Strapped for Life 5K. Donations can be made by anyone, including businesses and the general population. Donations aid the research and compilation of educational tools, as well as funding the trinkets sold as a reminder to buckle up. Donations can be made online or at Strapped for Life’s office in Dallas. Donations can be made as a stand-alone donation or by purchasing small trinkets, such as key chains and dashboard sets, available. For more information about how to get involved, visit Strapped for Life’s volunteer page on the website.

NEW ORGANIZATION PROMOTES SAFE DRIVING AND SEATBELT AWARENESS

A Cedar Hill resident has benefited from the creation of the seatbelt awareness organization, Strapped

for Life. Madison Meyers has benefited from the unique services offered by Strapped for Life. Meyers lost her best friend in a car accident two months ago due to improper seatbelt use. She has since visited with grief counselors with Strapped for Life as well as learned how to drive safer herself. “After losing Michael, I’ve discovered just how precious life is,” Meyers said. “I want to do everything possible to help myself and my loved ones avoid the same mistake.” Educational materials and incentives for safe driving are offered by Strapped for Life online. Small trinkets, such as key chains and dashboard sets, are sold for a small donation as a reminder to wear a seatbelt. Another unique feature the organization offers is grief counseling for those who have lost loved ones in car accidents. Those interested in the services offered can visit Strapped for Life’s website for contact information. Another way those interested in Strapped for Life can get involved is through the organization’s first 5K run. Strapped for Life is hosting its first 5K on April 5 at 8:30 a.m. at Fair Park in Dallas, Texas. Participants may walk or run to honor those who lost their lives due to the improper use of seatbelts. Early registration is available online for $25. Prices increase to $30 during March and $40 on the day of the event. Volunteers and participants are needed.

The new organization hopes to achieve familiarity within the Dallas community while raising $10,000 at the event. Money will be raised through online registration and donations. Chelsea Roth, founder of Strapped for Life, is excited to see Strapped for Life begin to take life. “This past July, I had an awful car accident where I should have died,” Roth said. “A seatbelt saved my life, so I decided to try to help save as many others as I can through the services and products provided by Strapped for Life. It has truly become a passion of mine.” Mike Rawlings, Dallas mayor, is excited to see an organization take a stand in the local community. “It is great that Dallas finally has something to motivate our young people to stay safe

on the roads,” Rawlings said. “It is so sad to see so many young adults pass so soon because of a silly mistake. It only takes a few seconds to possibly save your life.” For more information about the first Strapped for Life 5K walk, organization or how to get involved, visit the organization’s website.
