R-2 & Year 3-7 SPORTS DAY

Last week we celebrated the Junior Primary and Primary Sports’ Days on

Thursday 9th

and Friday 10th

November. Sports Day is always a highlight of

the school year and an opportunity for all students to participate in a range

of events, allowing them to put into practice a range of physical education

Thank you to the family and friends who joined us on each of those days to

support and encourage our students! Our focus is that all students will not

only participate but enjoy themselves as they competed individually and in

their house teams.

These days would not be possible without the hard work of Stradbroke staff

behind the scenes so we’d like to thank the following people. Debbie

Bishop, Beau Lee and Kay Mathie for organising the two days. Barry Mercer

and Tom Giordano for the line marking on the oval. Kate Majewski, Tanya

Scanlan and the fundraising committee for the sausage sizzle and gelati ice

creams. Courtney Cox and Penny Kitchen for choreographing the health

hustle and class teachers, specialist teachers and SSOs for their

contribution.

Congratulations to Koonga who

won Sports’ Day with 412

points. Followed by Forest (2nd

Leabrook (3rd

(4th

Leabrook for winning the Health

Hustle and Cheer Chant.

Please note these requests cannot be included in our class

your requests seriously however it is not possible to meet

every request. We use our knowledge and expertise of how

students engage at school and in classes to make decisions

for the benefit of all children. For reasons of privacy and

decision is made however we can assure you that we spend

many hours considering alternatives before making the best

MYP SERVICE AND ACTION GROUP

This term the MYP Service and

Action group are holding an

Animal Welfare League donation

drive. The Animal Welfare League

is a charity that has locations throughout South Australia.

They run South Australia’s largest animal shelter which is

located at Wingfield. Their main focus is to re-home lost,

surrendered and abandoned animals and reuniting lost pets

with their owner.

It would be greatly appreciated if the school’s students and

families donate non-perishable pet food, old towels, rugs, old

clothing (which is used as bedding), blankets and pet toys

(preferably without stuffing) to support this charity.

These things can be donated in the box at the Front Office

from Monday 20th

November to Friday on 8th

December. It

will be emptied each day with all donations taken to the

Animal Welfare League in Week 9.

Thank you for supporting our work.

CANTEEN

Qkr App: We are really excited about the new lunch ordering

app for the canteen. It is wonderful to see so many families

who have already registered and are ordering. For those who

haven't, there is a link on the Skoolbag App to the

instructions. For anyone who only has access to a computer

and not an ipad or a phone that is compatible, please go to

www.qkr.mastercard.com/store then search Stradbroke

School and select. Registering is easy!

FOOD ALLERGIES: for children with food allergies, when

creating your children's profile, please add (ALLERGIES) in

capital letters with brackets without a space next to their

surname. This will ensure every future order food or drink will

notify us of any allergy.

Please note, if ordering via Qkr, it is NOT necessary to also

send in an empty lunch bag.

FRIDAY LUNCH SPECIALS: This Friday we will be offering

Gnocchi with a tomato sauce. $4-00 per serve. As we are

still learning about the Qkr app, it may not be added to the

menu in time for this weeks orders.

VOLUNTEER ROSTER: If anyone is available on Wednesday

Dec, Wednesday 6th

Dec or Wednesday

CHRISTMAS LUNCH TREAT, TUESDAY 5TH DECEMBER 2017

We are excited to once again offer the Christmas lunch to all

students and staff. Order forms have been distributed to

every student, and need to be returned to the canteen no

later than recess time Friday 1st

December. Please remember

that it is ONE order form per child. We are hoping to update

the Qkr App to include this special lunch treat.

The lunch consists of turkey, roast potatoes and veggies

(carrot, peas and corn). Gravy is optional and will be given

unless we are told on the order form not to. We are again

offering two sizes. Regular $10-00 and Junior $7-00. All meals

include a Bon-Bon and Chocolate Santa Marshmallow.

We hope everyone enjoys this special treat. Any questions,

please see Kate in the canteen.
