Story-telling: Movie Stories When we tell stories or jokes, we often use the present for dramatic effect! Story-telling is good to practice the present simple in the third person singular and subject and object pronouns, and possessive adjectives. Shrek Shrek is a green ogre. He lives in a swamp. Lord Farquaad, the ruler of the castle of Ludoc, sends a lot of fairytale creatures to this swamp as punishment. Shrek cannot live in peace and quiet any more, so he decides to visit this ruler. Shrek wants to ask him to stop sending creatures to his swamp. Donkey, Shrek’s friend, goes with him. Shrek and Donkey arrive at Farquaad's palace in Duloc. There is a tournament. The winner will rescue Fiona, because the ruler wants to marry her. Fiona is in a castle protected by a dragon. Shrek (with some help from his friend) wins the tournament. Farquaad accepts Shrek’s request, and he asks him to rescue Fiona. After a lot of adventures, Shrek saves Fiona (with some help from his friend), and the three return to Farquaad's palace. On their way, Shrek and Fiona start to fall in love. But there is a problem. Every night Fiona turns into an ogress, and she hates that. Shrek finds out that Fiona hates ogres, and he is heartbroken, so he returns to his swamp. Shrek has privacy now, but he feels very sad. He misses Fiona. Donkey comes to the swamp, and he tells him that Fiona is going to get married to Lord Farquaad. The dragon is now their friend, so they all fly to Duloc! The three friends interrupt the wedding before Farquaad can kiss Fiona. The sun sets, and suddenly she turns into an ogress in front of everyone. Farquaad is furious. He orders: “Kill, Shrek and put Fiona in prison!”, but the dragon devours Farquaad! And that is Farquaad’s end! Now love is in the air! Shrek and Fiona kiss. Then they get married. This is a bit strange because they are an ogre and an ogress! Anyway, that’s the end! The movie has a happy ending!
