Do not use where abrasion orphysical abuse is anticipated.
Installation in confined or air-free
spaces may inhibit cure.
Do not apply to surfaces withspecial protective or cosmeticcoatings without prior consul-tation with the manufacturer andfirst testing adhesion.
A/D FIREBARRIER IntumescentSealant has been tested innumerous firestop configurations. For optimum economy andperformance, apply to athickness equal to or slightlygreater than the minimum test

Priming: A/D FIREBARRIERSilicone generally does notrequire priming. In view of theunpredictability of surfacecharacteristics, it is recommendedthat a test sample of sealant beapplied on the surface to testadhesion.
Masking: Areas adjacent toopenings to be firestopped can bemasked to assure a neat
appearance. The masking tapeshould not be allowed to touchthe clean surfaces to which thesilicone is to adhere. Removemasking tape immediately.
A/D FIREBARRIER Mineral Woolis the required backup material inmost systems. The materialallows a controlled depth ofsealant to be applied formaximum economy.
Install backup material asspecified. Surfaces of mineralwool to receive sealant should berecessed in the opening to adepth equal to the required thick-ness of sealant. Apply A/DFIREBARRIER Silicone in acontinuous operation to fill andseal the opening. Tool thesealant to spread it against thebackup material and the openingsurfaces.
Individual penetrations throughdrywall may not require a backingmaterial for the silicone. Simplyfill the annular space to therequired depth and form a smoothbead or crown at the surfaces.
Excess sealant should be dry-wiped from glass, metal andplastic surfaces while stilluncured, followed with acommercial solvent such as xylol, toluol, or methyl ethyl ketone.
CURED SEALANT IS USUALLYVERY DIFFICULT TO REMOVEWITHOUT ALTERING ORDAMAGING THE SURFACE TOWHICH THE SEALANT HASBEEN MISAPPLIED.

Do not use where abrasion orphysical abuse is anticipated.
Installation in confined or air-freespaces may inhibit cure.
Silicones may be painted, but
movement of the silicone maycause the paint film to crack andpeel. We recommend thesealant be applied after paintingis completed.
A/D FIREBARRIER Silicone SLis self-leveling and is thereforelimited to horizontal applications.
Do not apply to surfaces withspecial protective or cosmeticcoatings without prior consul-tation of the manufacturer andfirst testing adhesion.
Do not apply to surfaces that willbe in direct contact with food.
For optimum economy andperformance the product shouldbe applied to a thickness equalto or slightly greater than theminimum test design thickness.
Excessive depth to width ratiosmay cause sealant failure. Donot apply excessive thick-ness. As a guideline, A/D FireProtection Systems recom-mends the minimum testedsystem thicknesses not beexceeded by more than 25%.
Standards: A/D FIREBARRIERSilicone SL has been tested inaccordance with the following:ULC-S115, Standard Method ofFire Tests of Firestop Systems.
