SECOND COLLECTION
Today's Second Collection is for the ongoing "Repair and
Renovation" of our Church Buildings. The "R & R" Collections
will be helping us, in addition to the funds from the
Generations of Faith Campaign, to pay for the Renovation of the
Pope Francis Center. We ask all parishioners to be as
generous as possible and thank everyone for their sacrifices
and
generous support!
We invite all parishioners to turn to PAGE 7 of this week’s
Bulletin to see some photos of recent work done on the
exterior
of both the Church, & the Pope Francis Parish Center!

ADULT SACRAMENTS
All Adults interested in receiving the Sacraments of
Baptism, Communion and/or Confirmation may register for
the “RCIA” (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) by
coming to the Rectory Office with your Birth Certificate
THIS WEEK. Classes will begin on October 2nd. You may

or would like more information.
FREE ADULT ENGLISH CLASSES !
New York Communities for Change is offering Free
English Classes to be held between September and
December. To register, please visit New York Communities
for Change in the Pope Francis Parish Center on Tuesday,
September 25th or Thursday, September 27th between
6:30pm and 8:30pm. For more information, please call

ARISE TOGETHER IN CHRIST - AN INVITATION
Beginning the week of October 8th, we will begin again the
ARISE Together in Christ Program here in our parish. We hope
that the groups that were meeting will continue to
meet and we hope to begin new, additional groups as well.
Small groups will be guided by leaders who have been
trained in the ARISE Program and they will meet once a
week (for 6 consecutive weeks), either in parishioners
homes or at the parish. Being part of an ARISE Small
Group is a wonderful way to grow closer to God in Faith
and Prayer, especially with God's word in the Bible. It also
helps parishioners to get to know each other and closer as a
community. To be part of a Small Group, please fill out a
Sign-up Card which are available in Church and the
Rectory and may be placed in the "ARISE" boxes.
PUBLIC HEATH SOLUTIONS - WIC PROGRAM
The new WIC center, located at 462 36th Street (2nd Floor,
between 4th & 5th Avenues) Services are available for
low-income pregnant, post-partum, and breastfeeding
women, as well as infants and children up to five years of
age. If you have questions, please call the center at
718.942.6240.
CHURCHES UNITED FOR FAIR HOUSING (CUFFH)
Churches United for Faith Housing is available to walk you
through the NYC affordable housing lotteries. Represen-
tatives are available in the Pope Francis Parish Center

We will begin our preparations in anticipation of our Feast
Day
with a Novena beginning on Friday, September 21st. Please

PARISH RETREAT DAY - SATURDAY, OCT. 6TH
This year we would like to invite ALL parishioners to attend
a
retreat day on Sat. Oct. 6th at "Camp Alvernia" Retreat
House
in Centerport, Long Island. A bus will leave from Church
at 7:00am and return at approximately 7:00pm. The day will
include Spiritual Conferences (talks), Morning and Evening
Prayer, Mass and quiet time for a personal prayer and
reflection
in a beautiful, peaceful location (near the water on Long
Island
Sound). Lunch and Dinner will be provided. We ask for a
donation of $20 per person. Register before September 28th
by
calling (718-768-6065) or visiting the Rectory Office.
JOIN OUR YOUTH CHOIR!
Our English youth choir is looking for new members!
Practice is in the Rectory on
Friday evenings from 6pm-7:30pm
We sing at the 12:00 PM English Mass on Sundays and all
major parish celebrations!

LEVANTATE JUNTOS EN CRISTO
A partir de la semana del 8 de octubre, comenzaremos de
nuevo el programa “Levántate, Juntos En Cristo”, aquí en
nuestra parroquia. Esperamos que los grupos que se
reunieron sigan reuniéndose y esperamos comenzar nuevos
grupos. Los grupos serán guiados por líderes entrenados
en el programa Levántate y se reunirán una vez a la semana
(durante 6 semanas consecutivas), ya sea en el hogar de los
feligreses o en la parroquia. Ser parte de un grupo de
Leván-
tate es una forma maravillosa de acercarse a Dios en Fe y
Oración, especialmente con la palabra de Dios en la Biblia.
También ayuda a los feligreses a conocerse y acercarse más
como comunidad. Para ser parte de un grupo, complete una
tarjeta de inscripción que está disponible en la Iglesia y
en la rectoría y se puede colocar en las casillas

WASHINGTON, D.C. Bi-Annual pilgrimage to the Basilica of the
National
Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington,
D.C.
There are two options available:
a single-day option, and a two-day option.
The single-day option includes round trip bus
transportation to the National Shrine on
Saturday, October 27th and costs $50.
The two-day option (Friday, October 26th &
Saturday, October 27th) includes bus
transportation, 2 days of accommodations at
the Hilton in Arlington, Virginia, dinner,
breakfast, a guided tour of Washington, D.C.,
the visit to the National Shrine, and all taxes
and tips. Cost PER PERSON: Quad $238 -

In order that proper arrangements may be made,

St. Michael’s Church has served the community of Sunset
Park since 1870. Almost all of our buildings are at least 90
years old, and require constant attention, repair, and
renovation. We are grateful for your support, and share
with you some photos of the recent work, which took place
within the past two weeks, on the exterior of the Church
and Pope Francis Parish Center. The work on the side wall
of the Church cost $12,500, while the work on the Pope
Francis Parish Center is included as a part of the ongoing
renovations.
La Iglesia de San Miguel ha servido a la comunidad de
Sunset Park desde el 1870. Casi todos nuestros edificios
tienen al menos 90 años de antigüedad y requieren
