Miniature Sensor Technology Insertion 3 (MSTI3) w/o Solar Array
MSTI-3 Launched May 17, 1996 and reached Sun Synchronous, low Earth polar orbit.
Main Goal: Study the Earth in medium-wave and short-wave infrared.
2nd Goal: Demonstrate that a spacecraft of a high level of complexity and capability could be designed and built in a short time, and budget.
Designed for 1 Year Life, it lasted 1.5 yrs.
