Of all the items here, I like

the iPad the most.

I will never be bored with an

iPad in my hands. There are

many things I can do with an

iPad. I can play games with

it, listen to stories, practise

Math sums and even watch

videos on the iPad.

Example 1

E laboration(examples & experiences)

My father has an iPad. There are

times he allows me to play with

his iPad. I like to listen to the

Baby Shark song and sing along.

I like to play with some of the

games installed like Clash

Royale. It is a game to earn cards

to attack my opponent’s castle. I

enjoy playing this game very

much. I even beat my father’s

highest score!

O pinion

In conclusion, I like the iPad the

most as there are many apps in

there to keep me entertained. I

will never be bored with an iPad

in my hand!

QUESTION:

2) What do you usually

wish for on your

birthday?

O pinion (repeated as conclusion)

Focuses on issues on a personal level.

CONVERSATIONAL SKILLS Q(2)

R easons

I wish to go to River Safari with my

family.

My parents are very busy. They

spend a lot of their time at work. On

normal days, my parents try to be

home before I go to bed so that

they can read me a book before I

sleep. I know they love me very

much. I hope that on this special

day of mine, they would spend all

their time with me. In addition to

that, I have not been to River Safari

before. Hence, it will be an

enriching experience for me.

Example 1

E laborationexamples & experiences

My teacher and friends have shared

about their River Safari trips with their

families with me. They told me about

an animal named Manatee, and how

big it is. I read about Manatees in the

books. They are sea cows. They feed

on seagrasses. I am surprised to find

out that that they can live up to 70

years old! I read that River Safari is

organizing a Manatee Mania tour. It is

a special programme whereby

participants can interact with the

manatee up close. I really hope that I

have the opportunity to participate in

this programme. Imagine touching and

seeing a Manatee up close!

O pinion

In conclusion, I hope my

parents can spend time

with me at River Safari on

my birthday this year! I am

sure it will be a memorable

birthday.

QUESTION:

3) What are some of the

things you would

consider when getting

a gift for someone?

O pinion (repeated as conclusion)

CONVERSATIONAL SKILLS Q(3)

O pinion

R easons

I would have to consider if the person

receiving my gift would like it. In addition

to that, the cost of the gift is an

important factor as well.

I think it is important for me to know who

I am getting the gift for. I would try to find

out what the person likes or dislikes. This

will help me to get something that

he/she likes or needs. In addition to this,

cost is an important factor for me to

consider as well. I am a student and I do

not have much savings. Hence, I cannot

afford anything that costs an arm and a

leg.

Example 1

E laborationexamples & experiences

I remembered my first gift was a present

for my mum’s birthday last year. I could

still remember how excited I was to

finally have a chance to buy my mum a

gift. When I counted my savings in my

piggy bank, I was a little disappointed to

find out that I only have $20 in it. I

wanted to get her something really

special as I love my mum very much. I

want to thank her for all the love and

care she has showered upon me all

these years. Finally, I have decided to

bake a birthday cake for my mum myself.

I used the $20 to purchase the

ingredients for a cake. My mum was very

touched when she saw my birthday gift.

She said that it was the best birthday gift

she ever had.

O pinion

In conclusion, I would consider

the needs and likes of the

person I am getting the gift for.

In addition to that, it must be

within my budget. Hopefully, it

would be something that he or

she likes.
