Biography

Steven Spielberg is a Producer, screenwriter and actor; born on December

18, 1948.

One of the most successful directors and influential of the Industry, is one of

the main partners of the DeamWorks Studios, formed in 2009; Spielberg and

Stacey Snider direct the cinematographic company in association with the

Realiance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group.

Steven Spielberg is, in the set of all his movies, the film director who has

grossed more in the history, with great successes as “Jaws” (1975), “E.T. the

Extra-Terrestrial” (1982), “Indiana Jones Saga” and “Jurassic Park” (1993). In

his numerous achievements, he has won three Academy Awards.

Spielberg won his first two Academy Awards for best director and best

movie by “Schindler's List” (1993), the movie also was named by many

critics organizations as best movie in 1993; also won seven BAFTA awards

and three Golden Globes.

Spielberg won his third Academy Award for best director for the drama of

Second World War “Saving Private Ryan”, film movie that more collection in

1998. Also was one of the most awarded, with 4 Academy Awards, 2

Golden Globe and numerous critics awards.

He has gotten Academy Award nominations for best director for “Munich”,

“E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial”, “War Horse”, “Lincoln” and so on. In 2000,

Spielberg received the award for a lifetime of achievements of the DGA.

Spielberg also has in his possession the Irving G. Thalberg Award from the

Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the Cecil B. DeMille award

of The Hollywood press, a distinction of the Kennedy Center and many

other tributes to his career.

Recently Spielberg has directed “The Adventures of Tintin” 3D animation

movie winner of the Golden Globe for best animated picture; also has

directed “War Horse” based on a best seller novel, was nominated for six

Academy Awards. In 2011 produced “Super 8” and the third part of

“Transformers”, the last movie that has directed is "Lincoln", and soon will

direct “Robopocalypse” one co-production between Fox and DreamWorks.

Spielberg has directed some episodes of televison as Night Gallery, Marcus

Welby, M.D. y Columbo and has produced television series as “Emergency”

Emmy Award winner, produced by his company, Amblin Entertainment and

Warner Bros. Television for NBC. In company of Tom Hanks produced the

HBO miniseries “Band of Brothers” in 2001, based on a book by Stephen

Amborse on a unit of the U.S. Army in Europe during World War II. And more

recently, they returned to find to be the executive producers of the HBO

miniseries “The Pacific” in 2010, which focused in the Navy during World War

II in the Pacific. The series won eight Emmys, including Best Miniseries.

Among other Spielberg productions executive is SciFi Channel miniseries

Emmy winner Channel, “Abducted”, the TNT miniseries “Into the West” and

the series “United States of Tara”. He is currently the executive producer of

“Falling Skies” of TNT and “Smash” of the NBC.

Besides his work in the film world, Spielberg has also devoted his time and

resources to many philanthropic causes. The impact it had Schindler's List,

led him to establish the “Righteous Persons Foundation”, using all the profits

from the film. He also founded “Survivors of the Shoah Visual History

Foundation”, which, in 2005, became “USC Shoah Foundation Institute for

Visual History and Education”. And finally, Spielberg is the president of the

“Starlight Children Foundation”.
