Position Title University of Sydney - Application Support and Maintenance Assistant Intern Location Sydney Position Duration Minimum of 152 hours or 4 weeks full time Commencing Dec 2019 – Feb 2020 Position Overview The Application Support and Maintenance Assistant provides support to the application support and maintenance team on one or more applications. This includes assisting with business analysis, project coordination, documentation, handling of incidences, handling of requests, corresponding with stakeholders and producing reports. ICT is critical to achieving ongoing and continuous improvement in the University through the development, maintenance and support of the University’s enterprise IT solutions in addition to a range of small to medium solutions. ICT assists the University in achieving its strategic objectives, prioritising services that enable research & innovation, learning & teaching, and student experience. It aims to increase the University’s return on technology investment and ability to take advantage of technological innovation, balanced by managing cost and improving efficiency of University processes. Position Overview

The Application Support and Maintenance Assistant provides support to the application support and maintenance team on one or more applications. This includes assisting with business analysis, project coordination, documentation, handling of incidences, handling of requests, corresponding with stakeholders and producing reports.

The Enterprise Systems and Strategy portfolio is responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of technology systems and services that enable all research, education and University-wide business functions. The area is responsible for technology integration, application management, operations, and governance. It delivers innovative and differentiated IT solutions, improving the value of the technology environment to engender University success.

Key Accountabilities:

Performs business analysis for the application rationalisation project

Does project co-ordination and contribute to reports as required

Provide general administrative support for the application support and maintenance team

Build relationships and contribute to effective communications with stakeholders

Participate in issue resolutions

Participate in handling of requests

Skills and Attributes

Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.

Ability to work independently, with support from a supervisor, and as part of a team.

Ability to show initiative, exercise sound judgement and bring solutions and results oriented mindset

Ability to organise and prioritise work, sometimes under pressure, with competing priorities and sometimes limited supervision.

Ability to adhere to deadlines

Excellent administrative, organisational and analytical skills.

Experience working with a diverse group of people on projects, events or initiatives. This may include volunteer, university or community activities.

Ideal Degree/Discipline

Computer Science or Computer Engineering; Software / programming / coding focused areas of study

Eligibility Requirements

Second last or final year of a relevant undergraduate or postgraduate degree

Australian Citizens, Permanent Residents and International students with full working rights

Identify as having disability

Preference will be given to University of Sydney student applicants.
