Position Overview

The Recruitment Services branch within People and Culture provides expert advice and support to the department on all recruitment related matters, including attraction, selection, redeployment and other recruitment and retention practices. Working within the department’s strategic objective of ‘building a high performing justice system’. Recruitment Services delivers consultative, progressive, innovative, fair and ethical recruitment solutions.

The Intern will be provided with a range of learning opportunities across the differing facets of Recruitment Services from operations, assessment and selection and campaign recruitment. There will be a variety of tasks and job shadowing opportunities within the end to end recruitment cycle which may include but not limited to administering telephone or video interviews, scheduling interviews, facilitating face-to-face assessment activities, completing reference checks, arranging safety and security checks, and producing employment documentation.

Duties: Draft and write online and press job advertisements Assist with basic candidate screening Write interview questions and create selection tools Attend, observe and participate in assessment centre activities. Job shadow Recruitment Advisers to experience a ‘day in the life’ Attend public information sessions, career expos and other relevant employment related

events Undertake reporting on employment marketing initiatives to identify key trends Learn best practice recruitment Tour a prison to learn about the context of one of our recruiting environments Attend pre-service training to learn about the candidate experience post placement Assist with Assessment and Selection projects Job shadow the employment marketing team with filming and content creation Assist with candidate talent sourcing through LinkedIn Provide administrative and logistical support to the Recruitment Services team including

general word processing and data entry Attendance at client / candidate / supplier meetings Prepare basic documents including reports, presentations, power point documents, graphs

and charts Completion of other required tasks as directed by the Recruitment Manager

Knowledge and Skills: Planning and Organising – Organises own work program and tracks progress according to

work unit expectations, routines and procedures. Computer Skills – Understands and applies computer skills to complex word processing,

spreadsheet, presentation, or database functions. Written Communication – Creates basic documents using clear, concise and grammatically

correct language in required format. Verbal Communication – Actively listens and provides clear information in a polite and

considerate manner. Service Excellence: Demonstrates commitment in undertaking own duties and supporting

the work of the area to the best of their ability. Interpersonal Skills: Delivers information to team members, supervisors or customers in a

polite, considerate and assured manner

Personal Qualities: Teamwork – Cooperate effectively with the team and work collaboratively to achieve work

plan and goals. Flexibility – Adapts approaches and work to changes in the environment and effectively

meets new challenges. Drive and commitment – Adapts approaches and work to changes in the environment and

Other Information: Travel to metropolitan and/or regional locations may be required to attend assessment centres, public information sessions or prison tours.

Ideal Degree/Discipline

Undertaking relevant tertiary qualifications in human resources and/or organisational psychology are desirable.

Eligibility Requirements

Second last or final year of a relevant undergraduate or postgraduate degree

Australian citizens and international students with full working rights

Identify as having disability

Complete relevant internal onboarding processes and employment screens including a pre-employment security check and national police check including finger print check
