Senior Human Factors Engineer, Spacelabs Healthcare February 2016 to present. Human Factors representative to various Product Development teams, both current products and Next Gen ones.

User Experience Researcher, Microsoft May 2015 -- December 2015. Contractor tasked with requirements gathering, design and testing for new look Office 365. Concentrating on admin and support UIs.

Sr. Research Engineer/Data Scientist, AT&T, 2011-May 2015. Contractor overseeing Web Satisfaction analysis and reporting. Responsible for defining and implementing Predictive Analysis and Big Data initiatives. Contributions in providing analysis of perceptual and behavioral data to aid in data centered decision-making as follows:

Upgraded CSAT reporting to pinpoint areas for improvement. AT&T lacked skills in improving CSAT and Net Promoter scores. Upgraded reporting to increase visibility of areas for change by combining CSAT information, user testing, click stream analysis and more. Figures of merit led to increased understanding and new potentials.

Developed new models and tools for collaboration. Company was looking to maximize utility and productivity of work force. Proposed Structural Equation model, architecture and measurement that combined attitudinal and behavioral measures with Gallup Engagement survey initiated by business drivers to assess/predict Forrester Collaboration Maturity model and Productivity.

Sr. Program Manager/Researcher, Microsoft SQL Server, 2005-2011. Developed and delivered Business Intelligence (BI) in the Cloud Experience to Business Products Div. Many contributions in SQL Server user interface design and implementation of agile development. Specifics include:

Manage agile product development initiative at Microsoft. Team needed to keep pace with Microsoft’s move to agile development. As Agile SME and Scrum Master, ensured that Agile UX methods were utilized by tying UX functions within client product group. Kept pace with product demands without increasing headcount.

Led Microsoft SQL Server project for Section 508 Compliance. SQL Server faced market resistance due to apparent lack of compliance with disability regulations. Led small team in assessment of SQL Server 2008 compliance, triaged bug submissions and trained developers on 508 compliance. Increased product acceptance.

Teamed-up on first-ever SQL Server usability testing. Software had a reputation for being hard-to-learn and hard-to-use. Member of small team tasked with full usability testing for two major

releases, providing essential data and recommendations for product teams. Findings served as basis for Critical –To - Quality metrics, leading to usability improvements.

, Lexmark, 2004-2005. Managed user research on large scale development projects and worked with Marketing on Persona development. Substantial contributions to direct and indirect cost savings.

Saved $10M in development costs for Lexmark. Lack of coordination between Engineering, QC and Marketing had caused problems. Collaborated with Quality Dept. to define CSAT procedures and metrics. Worked with Marketing to identify personas perform statistical analysis. Saved millions on development of economy printers.

Product Designer IV, Autodesk, 2001-2004. Responsible for development of Geographical Information System (GIS) software applications including Map and Map Series products. Among contributions:

Redesigned user interface (UI) for complex Map product. Autodesk add-on for AutoCAD software was locked in to outdated look and feel. Developed new UI with enhanced drag ’n drop, new right-click menu options and in-context menuing structure. Improved product usability without extensive and costly reprogramming.

Earlier: Interim position as Project Manager for Agilent Technologies during 2000-2001. Also, New Product Development Program Manager and Principal Engineer for Tektronix at start of career. Accomplishments include:

Designed user interface for top selling oscilloscope. Tektronix was losing market share to competitors and grey market entries. Led team of software engineers to develop a new user interface for oscilloscope that sold 200,000 units in first two years. With extensions and improvements, line remains viable and has now sold 1+ million units.

Championed Customer-Centered Design methodology. Tektronix was relying on perceived engineering features to guide product definition. Led introduction of user-focused design QFD, Critical to Quality, Look & Feel and other procedures into product development. Improved usability and cut product development cycle time 40%.

EDUCATION, OTHER, PERSONAL & REFERENCES

Education: Received Ph.D. and M.A. degrees in Cognitive Psychology from the University of Arizona. Additional professional training in usability engineering, data science & analytics.
