STEBalarm
intelligentflexibleeasy to usemodular

STEBalarm triggers an alarm when a fault occurs or a
process is interrupted and also provides continuous
monitoring of the function of control systems of
connected constructions. The software solution, which
can be programmed to be escalated in several steps,
coordinates alarms and forwards them to the duty
person as laid down in your on-call plan. This ensures
that you are informed as quickly as possible, also in
extraordinary situations.
STEBalarm is extremely easy to use and yet offers
maximum freedom of configuration. The alarm system
is web-based and access from a mobile phone is
supported. This speeds up decision-making, makes the
on-call system efficient and successful.
STEBalarm has an intuitive user surface. The open,
modular and upgradable alarm system can be added to
one or more units can be integrated at any time.
Never has an alarm system been more intelligent or individual
STEBalarm is individually configurable and compatible with a multiplicity of data links for all standard control systems.
Even isolated, remote structures can be integrated reliably in the STEBalarm system.

Flexible system design, open in the communication
STEBalarm is designed for the widest possible range of
applications: The system design supports stand-alone
solutions as well as local sites with or without process
control system (ARAbella, AQUAbella or REbella).
The system is configured by browser via a web interface
or by the process control system.
In local systems, a head station monitors all devices in
the different building structures. It acts as configuration
centre from which all communication channels are
managed and controlled and can also be used as main
alarm path. On the field level, the alarm units in the
different structures receive the alarms or can trigger
alarms independently and as redundant mode via the
mobile network.
It is also possible to link several STEBalarm solutions to
one process control system.
Stand-alone solution: Each STEBalarm system is individually usable and fully functional.
In a decentralized system configuration, a head station monitors the connected STEBalarm systems of the individual stations. The integration into a process control system of STEBATEC is possible.

STEBalarm triggers alarms optionally by pager, SMS or
e-mail and communicates via TCP, modbus or I/O.
The open and flexible system can be used anywhere.
The modular design of the system supports custom
solutions or programs and can be extended at any time.

STEBalarm is configured via browser or web interface
without extra software. The user is not bound to accept
updates or licenses. No additional installations are
required.
The head station in local systems is configured via
browser or process control system. The system com-
munication routing is internal and requires no repeated
inputs. The head station transfers the configuration
directly to the units linked to it. All parameters can be
entered as required by the customer.
STEBalarm is equipped with a constant self-monitoring
function; it checks the activity and function of the com-
ponents linked to it. If a component fails, an alarm is
triggered. Besides, all events are documented and can
be analysed at any time.
Almost all programmable logic controllers of outdoor
constructions can be connected to the alarm units
directly because STEBalarm supports all common
transfer protocols.
STEBalarm displays all faults in the monitored struc-
tures. This provides a ready overview and speeds up
decision-making.
Any parameterization easy to operate
STEBalarm documents all events in an alarm and system log without fail. Many filter options are provided for systematic search.
Alarm can be reset by a click or can be rejected, to forward them immediately.

STEBalarm permits individual on-call planning with
hourly granularity. Rosters can be mapped realistically
(no standard solution from midnight to midnight). The
STEBATEC process control systems also include a soft-
ware solution which actively supports populating the
on-call plans.
The escalation steps can be defined; additional priorities
can be set. In this way, depending on the priority set, the
alarm can be triggered at any time or only during office
hours. For more safety, critical alarms can be sent along
two different channels.
For maintenance, all alarms of a building structure can
be suppressed temporarily so that false alarms are
avoided.
If an on-call worker is already on duty and engaged,
he can reject an incoming alarm by SMS or a click on
the user surface. This causes the alarm to be routed to
the next on-call worker immediately and without loss
of time. Optionally a fairness generator can be enabled
which in the light of past events alarms those workers
first who had the least number of engagements.
The STEBalarm design is redundant. The stations at the
outdoor structures can be equipped with a SIM card to
trigger alarms independently. If a head station fails, the
local station can still send an alarm.
The system is an open system and so the STEBalarm
stations can also work with customized software.
On-call planning no loophole
On-call duty is planned individually on actual hourly basis. STEBalarm applies these to monthly and daily overviews and supports many different presentation options.
STEBalarm supports priority alarm setting. An urgent alarm is transmitted immediately, less urgent alarms only during office hours.

Plants equipped with STEBalarm
ARA Meiringen
This plant treats the waste water of the communities
Meiringen, Hasliberg and Schattenhalb with about 13000
population equivalent. All parts of the plant are equipped
with the STEBalarm system, which is integrated in the
ARAbella process control system from STEBATEC.
AEK Onyx AG
That leading energy supplier in the area of and around
Solothurn operates about 100 heating plants all of
which are equipped with independent alarm solutions.
With STEBalarm, all plants were integrated in a single
solution. The REbella process control and the process
visualization greatly facilitates the operation once more
again.
ARA Le Landeron
STEBalarm and the ARAbella process control
system monitor and control the plant which treats
the waste water of the municipalities of Le Landeron,
La Neuveville, Lignières, and Nods with totally about
15000 population equivalent.

STEBalarm has intentionally been designed as an
open, upgradable modular system. This means
the system remains open to any extension option
at any time.
There are many additional systems that can be
used optionally. In addition to several plug-ins,
this includes a ModbusMapper, for example.
A multi-client capable ModbusMapper transmits
coils (%M) and input bits (%I) to a coil map (%M)
or holding register (%MW) and input register
(%IW) to a holding register-Map (%MW).
The communication state of every single element
can be scanned and a condensed status mes-
sage obtained.
The ModbusMapper is ideal for link-up with
single client modbus devices which are addition-
ally networked with other systems (e.g., PLS),
or when there are many different modbus/TCP
alarm sources.
STEBalarm also permits meter data logging via
M-bus (with Solvimus M-Bus Master) or Modbus.
Data can be read out in many different modes;
data is stored on a server.
STEBalarm has still other functions, for example,
exporting the configuration of the STEBalarm
systems and the additional systems in JSON
format. Conversely, exported configurations
and manually created configurations can be
imported.
And finally other customized functions are always
possible on request. Because flexibility has
always been a distinctive feature of STEBATEC.
