DESCRIPTION
This book has been written as the final project of a month long field trip through the Southern Appalachian mountains, during which I took eight folklore students (and another chaperone for half of the time) to visit in the home of old timey musicians and storytellers and a few young 'revivalists'. I formed the trip a year ago as part of my folklore program at Paideia School in Atlanta because I felt a strong need in a city so bombarded by popular culture and so isolated from folk culture to expose my students to folklore in a real setting.
