Mummy yelled from the hallway, to both Mia and Jack, “We’re late, grab your school bags and afternoon snacks!”

Whilst on the playground, Mia heard someone say, “There’s a big ugly virus, and it’s coming this way!”“It’s spiky and greedy and terribly mean, it’s slimy and if it catches you, it’ll turn you all green!”

Mummy kissed them goodbye, as she’d be home late from work, as their mummy you see, was an NHS nurse.

Staying at home meant the green monster would bore, and with any luck, it’d not be around anymore.

Mummy had to work, whilst Mia and Jack stayed home with their Dad - they felt very worried and a little bit sad. It was hard to understand why they had to stay home due to the virus, but Daddy explained that the whole world was in crisis. “The world needs to heal, and we need to let it, the only people allowed out are the police and the medics”.

NEE - NOR!

“Why does Mummy have to go to work whilst we stay at home?”, they asked. He replied that Mummy was a superhero, just without a cape or a mask.“Mummy is fighting for the people turned green, with all the other super doctors, nurses and medical teams.”

Realising Mummy was a superhero turned their eyes bright, as they started to imagine her superhero fight.

She caught the green slime in a giant blue net, and drenched it in hot water until it was soaking wet!

She shocked the virus with her electrifying glove, then threw soap-balls at it whilst flying high above!

She pulled off the monster’s spikes and slammed it on the floor, she began to wipe up its pieces, until it was no more.

Proud of their mummy, Mia and Jack felt some hope, with the superheroes saving them, at home they could cope. They stayed indoors safely, supporting Mummy and the NHS, whilst they wished for the world to be virus-less.
