Station Numbering
Display of Station Numbers
Railway line symbols and numbers have been assigned to make destinations and transfer stations more readily recognizable so that railway travel in Shikoku will be easier for everyone, including foreign visitors. Junction stations and other such locations where passengers need to transfer are marked with multiple numbers in light of the railway traffic system.
Stations with Numbers Assigned (Total of 299 Stations)
• JR Shikoku: 257 stations (excluding two seasonal temporary stations, Tsushimanomiya and Tainohama)
• Asa Kaigan Railway Company: 2 stations
• Tosa Kuroshio Railway Company: 40 stations
Makeup of Station Numbers
• Railway lines have distinguishing colors and letter codes. Station numbers are made up of the letter code and a two-digit number.
Display Locations
• Station name signs on platforms, pocket train schedules, etc.
